Able Skills City & Guilds Accredited 5 day Rendering Course

This course is designed to give you a good understanding in all areas of rendering.

Able Skills is a City & Guilds and CAA approved training centre and is able to offer the following City & Guilds Unit Accreditation in rendering.

In order to take part in this course, you do not need to have previous plastering experience

During this 5 day course you will be continually assessed and will be building a portfolio of photographic evidence which is yours to keep and present to potential employers or customers. It is advisable that you build on this existing portfolio as you undertake plastering projects

This course will teach you the various steps required to complete any rendering projects that you may come across and will provide you with a City & Guilds Certificate to go with it.

We will take you through the various stages required to ensure that by the end of your 5 days, you will be competent in all areas of rendering and confident to take on any rendering projects.

This course will cover all new and old methods of preparation including:

• fixing of rules around windows to form a hard angle
• learning to fit angle beads around windows and reveals,
• how to fix a batten above DPC height to form a Bell cast bead
• Applying a scratch coat
• Applying a top coat, enabling you to achieve a smooth finish.

In addition to this, you will also learn how to do Ashlar Jointing and understand when to use Expansion Joints. You will learn all about the different types of rendering finishes and have a detailed understanding of all tools, materials and techniques required to complete a rendering project, including details on all of the correct mixes.

The units you will be certificated for are taken from the City & Guilds 6217-04 award and they are:

• 073 - Applying a plain rendering and finish with a wood float
• 075 - Fixing bell cast bead and applying scratch coats to wall areas

Able Skills facilities are structured in a way which provides dedicated areas for dedicated subjects. We have an area for the sole purpose of teaching you to render to perfection.

Our Plastering instructors have all served years within the trade and are experts in their field. They are also qualified to teach having achieved their Assessor awards and Internal Verification awards. This ensures that whichever plastering option you choose, from a 2 day skimming course to a 5 day rendering course or a plastering qualification, you can be assured that the quality of tuition you receive is first class.

Able Skills provides a full range of plastering courses and we believe that whatever your learning requirement, we can accommodate you. We offer courses over weekends, week days and for periods of up to 6 weeks. If you have a personal project, we can cater for this and if you want to gain qualifications and recognition of your training, we can also accommodate you.

Able Skills Plastering Course Options

This is a hands-on, practical course and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout the course. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. All tools and materials will be provided throughout your training period.

At the end of your rendering course you will have your completed portfolio and upon successful completion of your assessments, you will be certificated with City & Guilds. These items will assist you in gaining employment at a later stage.
