CITY & GUILDS ASSESSMENTS ONLY

If you are currently working within the construction industry and have been for many years but do not have any qualifications in your particular field, maybe Able Skills can help.

At Able Skills we have our own Assessors and Internal Verifiers which means that we can provide you with a structured Assessment Only period in order for you to obtain the qualification you need.

We are a City & Guilds approved training centre and currently provide a level 1 qualification in Plastering, Bricklaying and Carpentry. For Assessment only purposes, 3 - 4 weeks with Able Skills would be required in order to obtain a recognised qualification in your specialist area (In the listed 3 subjects).

For any individual subject you would need to be competent in each unit listed in order to obtain your qualification. If there are units you are unsure of then you would need to spend additional time training on that particular unit before being assessed, this will be at an additional cost and may require up to 1 week per unit.

At the end of your assessment you will receive a portfolio of your work and be certificated by City & Guilds.

Plastering City & Guilds 6217 - 04:           £1225.00

Mandatory Units.

  • 016 - Repairing a patch in a plastered wall
  • 065 - Boarding and setting a ceiling in one coat work
  • 066 - Applying a floating coat to wall and attached pier
  • 066 - Applying a floating coat to wall and attached pier
  • 067 - Applying and finishing the setting coat to a floored wall and attached pier
  • 068 - Applying a floating coat to a square or rectangular column
  • 069 - Applying a floating finishing coat to a square or rectangular column
  • 070 - Scrim and skim finish with plaster

Optional Units (2 to be completed)

  • 017 - Screeding a sand and cement floor from a given level of datum point
  • 018 - Introduction to fixing floor tiles and skirting tiles
  • 071 - Applying a textured finish with border
  • 072 - Replaster over textured ceiling using bonding agent
  • 073 - Applying a plain rendering and finish with a wood float
  • 074 - Applying a Tyrolean hand machine finish to a prepared wall
  • 075 - Fixing bellcast bead and applying scratch coats to wall areas
  • 076 - Applying pebble dash finish to a prepared wall

Bricklaying City & Guilds 6217 - 07:           £1225.00

  • 046 - Construction block wall
  • 047 - Construction cavity wall with recess
  • 048 - Working with timber frame in brickwork
  • 049 - Working with stepped foundation using block work
  • 050 - Constructing cavity wall using pre-cast stone arch
  • 051 - Constructing brick and block gable end

  • 030 - Constructing semi-circled arch - rough ringed using DPC
  • 052 - Constructing single flue chimney and pot
  • 053 - Use decorative bond in bricklaying
  • 054 - Constructing attached pier with decorative wall bond
  • 055 - Constructing oversailing course with decorative bond
  • 056 - Working with course and random rubble stonework
  • 057 - Constructing an English bond manhole

Carpentry:           £1500.00

  • 001 - Fixing Skirting to a timber background
  • 002 - Fixing floor joists and laying flooring
  • 003 - Fixing door lining in stud partition or blockwork opening
  • 004 - Hanging an internal door
  • 005 - Making a casement window
  • 058 - Fixing and stabilising trussed rafters

Optional Units (2 to be completed)

  • 059 - Accessing for carpentry and joinery
  • 060 - Setting out and cutting one pair of common rafters
  • 061 - Operating basic wood machines

Plumbing: 6129: Level 2 Certificate in Basic Plumbing Studies:

We are also able to provide "time served" plumbers with a 6129 - level 2 Technical Certificate. Many of you out there have spent years within the plumbing industry and are extremely competent within your field but do not have the relevant paper work to back this up. With times changing in the UK, it is becoming increasingly evident that relevant and recognised qualifications are required to obtain the jobs that you want.

If you are competent in the areas listed below, we can help you to obtain the required City & Guilds qualifications in just 4 weeks. You will be required to sit 11 written exams, complete assessments and finally, sit an On line examination.
