Welcome to Able Skills Plumbing Training Course incorporating
City & Guilds 6022

Copper tube domestic installation 6022-02

This is a 3 week training course to provide plumbing installers with a method of proving competence in skills and knowledge necessary to choose, design and install copper tubing for domestic heating and plumbing systems.

This course will provide you with a City & Guilds plumbing qualification and to ensure you achieve this, you will be assessed by Able Skills qualified Plumbing Assessors and Internal Verifiers throughout the duration of your course, ensuring that your plumbing training runs smoothly and efficiently. At the end of the course you will have a completed portfolio of the plumbing tasks you have undertaken. If you later look to increase your plumbing qualifications, this 6022 award will form part of the City & Guilds 6129 which is also available at Able Skills.

3 weeks

This plumbing course will be broken down into the following training:

Week 1: Basic plumbing course

Week 2: Theory and plumbing (3 practical assessments)

Week 3: Assessments (3 practical assessments)

The City & Guilds 6022 is broken down into 3 units, each unit being broken down into elements:

Unit 1

• Element 1 – work area check, equipment, drawings, tube sizes, identified drawings.
• Element 2 – component checks bending machine, spring, soldering.
• Element 3 – commissioning pipe work.

Unit 2

• Element 1 – commissioning procedures, soundness testing.
• Element 2 – system dynamics, faults, documentation.

Unit 3

• Element 1 – maintenance of pipe work, record keeping.

The practical assessments have been designed to enable candidates to demonstrate that they have the ability to perform competently in selected work areas.

To be considered competent, a candidate must satisfactorily complete all the performance criteria for the practical assessments schedule, which will be explained in detail during the course.
