City & Guilds Bricklaying 6217 from Able Skills
Able Skills can offer you the opportunity to obtain a City & Guilds qualification in Bricklaying. This is an intensive 6 weeks of hands on training, during which time you will build a portfolio of your work. This course can be covered over a period to suit you as long as you complete the entire course within 18 months. You can train for 6 consecutive weeks, divide your weeks up or even incorporate some weekend training if you have ongoing weekly commitments. At Able Skills we aim to make our qualifications as accessible as is possible and additionally we offer a payment plan which, following a deposit, is on a pay as you train basis.
The course will provide you with in depth training during which time you will be assessed by our qualified Bricklaying Assessors and Internal Verifiers. The entire City & Guilds process is completed here on site at Able Skills which ensures this course is delivered using the correct procedures and without delay.
There are 7 mandatory Units and you must complete any 2 Units from the 6 optional units.
The 7 Mandatory Units are
- 045 - Working with stretcher bond walling
- 046 - Blockwall 102.5mm thick
- 047 - Cavity wall with frame recess
- 048 - Timber frame faced with best brickwork
- 049 - Stepped foundation using trench blocks
- 050 - Cavity wall using pre-cast stone arch
- 051 - Brick and block gable end
The 7 Optional Units are:
- 030 - Semi-circled arch - rough ringed
- 052 - Single flue chimney and pot using DPC
- 053 - One brick thick Flemish bond with projection
- 054 - Attached pier in English garden wall bond
- 055 - One brick thick EGWB with oversailing course
- 056 - Course and random rubble stonework
- 057 - English bond manhole
You will also receive a full set of Bricklaying tools on completion of your course.

If you feel confident in your bricklaying abilities, you may wish to opt for a CAA Intermediate Construction Award Level 2 Bricklaying. This award also incorporates a knowledge test and health and safety test so has some classroom based tuition.
This is a hands-on, practical course, it is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. All tools and materials will be provided throughout your training period.

City & Guilds Bricklaying Course: Duration 6 weeks

We feel confident that with the standard of staff and training we provide, you can complete this qualification in the stated 6 weeks. If however, there is some reason which leads to you requiring additional training, additional fees will be payable.
