4 Week Hands-On Bricklaying Course

Have you considered learning bricklaying but do not want to undertake a qualification? If so, this may be the Bricklaying course or you. This 4 weeks of hands on ‘reality’ training will cover all of the basic and essential skills that any Bricklayer will need in order to provide a competent service to any potential customer.

Qualifications are not for everyone and so this course has been put together for those of you who just want to come in and get on with learning the trade of bricklaying.

This 4 weeks of hands on bricklaying training will see you progress from a novice to a competent Bricklayer with the course designed to build your skills gradually until bricklaying becomes second nature and at this Centre where ‘reality’ is important, this is easily achieved.

We will provide you with the bricklaying training to meet the standards as required by City & Guilds but without the requirement of portfolio building and completion.

We will also build on this to give you much more so that you will fully understand what bricklaying is all about. The emphasis for us is on meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations.

Bricklaying Course Structure, times and fees

This course can be covered in 4 consecutive weeks, broken up into 4 separate training blocks or even covered over weekends if you have ongoing weekly commitments. At Able Skills we aim to make our training as accessible as is possible and additionally we offer a payment plan which, following a deposit, is on a pay as you train basis.

This is a hands-on, practical course, it is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. Guidance on choosing the right training centre

We are aware that there are many Training Centres in the UK offering various qualifications and we would advise caution when you are ready to book courses of this nature.

We recommend that you confirm the Training Centre’s City & Guilds Registration number and also that you enquire as to the qualifications of their staff.

In order for your Bricklaying training course to run swiftly and smoothly, you should ensure that your chosen training centre has qualified Instructors, Assessors and Internal Verifiers.

Better still, visit the centre and view the staff’s qualifications as well as the facilities available.

You should be allowed access to see the training areas, chat to instructors, have access to past student feedback forms and additionally, chat to existing students.

Check if the course will be completed solely at the training centre or whether you are actually also being sold ‘home study’ units.

Lastly, confirm the timings of your course. If your intended course is to be achieved in blocks then be sure that you can return to train at a time of your choice and that you will not be left waiting for months on end to get back in.

This 4 week Bricklaying course will provide you with in depth training to cover 8 areas of essential bricklaying. Even though you will not be going through a qualification process your progress will be consistently assessed by our qualified Bricklaying instructor, giving you the same benefits as someone who might be training with us for qualification purposes.

The areas in which you will be trained on are:

•    Working with stretcher bond walling
•    Timber frame faced with best brickwork
•    Cavity wall using pre-cast stone arch
•    Brick and block gable end
•    Semi-circled arch - rough ringed
•    Single flue chimney and pot using DPC
•    One brick thick EGWB with oversailing course

Choice of:

•    Segmental arch
•    Brick panels (diaper bond or herringbone)

4 Week Hands On Bricklaying Course Fees and Payment Plan

At Able Skills we try to make our courses as affordable as possible. The cost for this 4 weeks Hands On Bricklaying course is £1295 (inc vat). We require a £500 deposit to secure a start date and the remaining balance can be spread over the 4 week training period.
