These DIY courses are aimed at those of you who have odd jobs around the house which need attention. The DIY courses we offer will provide you with the training you require to make those essential repairs, as well as advising you on health and safety and all tools and materials required to complete the job to a high standard and safely.

All of the training we provide can cover all of your DIY needs, saving you time and money and allowing you to develop new skills along the way.

DIY can be dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing and can be costly if you employ the wrong handy man. We want to encourage DIY enthusiasts to get it right first time and to help you achieve your aims; we have devised courses to suit every DIY requirement. Weekend training is available throughout the year and you can choose when you train.

Additionally, if you are undecided about which area of construction you wish to enter, you can use our short weekend courses to help you decide.

In just 1 weekend, we will look to provide you with an insight into and understanding of:

DIY Bricklaying Course will cover

•    You will learn how to set out building lines.
•    Be taught brick work and how to ensure your walls are square and vertical.
•    We will teach you to build a pillar, a pier and a Stretcher Bond wall.
•    You will learn the different types of bricklaying bonds
•    Be shown how to do pointing for face work.

OR

DIY Paving Course will cover

•    Cut and shape slabs
•    Incorporate diamond and curved angle patterns
•    How to outline your work with brick pavers
•    Prepare your work base
•    Calculate your centre lines
•    Different mixing techniques
•    Pointing finishes (including coloured finishes).

These are hands-on, practical courses and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout the course. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. All tools and materials will be provided throughout your training period.

These weekend courses are a fantastic insight into various construction skills and without a doubt will provide you with the skills and confidence to undertake DIY at home.
