Welcome to Able Skills Weekend Bricklaying Courses
Able Skills Weekend Bricklaying Courses

Our aim at Able Skills is to make all training accessible to everyone; this is regardless of whether this is short course training or qualification training.

If you have ongoing commitments throughout the week, Able Skills also offers the Intensive and Advanced Bricklaying courses over 2 consecutive week end periods. The course content remains unchanged; we condense 5 days training into your 4 days and lose none of the quality along the way.

Weekend training for the Intensive Bricklaying course will cover:

  • learn how to set out building lines
  • brick and block work
  • how to ensure your walls are square and vertical
  • build a corner, a pillar, a pier and a cavity wall
  • learn the different types of bricklaying bonds eg: English Bond, Flemish Bond and Stretcher Bond
  • pointing for face work

Weekend training for the Advanced Bricklaying course will cover:

  • building archways
  • conservatory bases
  • swoops,
  • ornate pillars
  • birds beak detail
  • soldier course with tiles
  • spiral pillars
  • fireplaces

If you attend our bricklaying course at weekends but then decide you would like to obtain a City & Guilds or CAA ICA qualification, we can also arrange this for you. Please visit City & Guilds Bricklaying or CAA ICA Bricklaying for all of the required units and full award details.

A bricklaying City & Guilds or CAA ICA training course is a 30 day course and if weekends are more suited to you, we can arrange for the majority of your training to be covered at weekends. We can take you up to day 16 at weekends (8weekends) but you will then be required to attend for 2 block periods of 7 days to complete the larger assessments.

This is a hands-on, practical course and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout the course. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. All tools and materials will be provided throughout your training period.

At the end of your Bricklaying course you will receive an Able Skills Certificate of completion and you can also have a portfolio and photographs of the stages of the work you have carried out during the period you have trained with us; this may assist you in gaining employment at a later stage.

If you require any additional information about this Bricklaying course, please feel free to contact us on 01322 280202 where staff are on hand 7 days each week to answer any additional questions you may have.

Once you have completed training with Able Skills we can offer you after course support and advice on any bricklaying projects you are undertaking. You can contact us by telephone or Email: info@ableskills.co.uk.

Additionally, we can provide you with a Business start up pack containing useful information and guidance on printing (business cards), opening a business bank account, public liability insurance and website design.
