Unit Accreditation in Carpentry
Able Skills is a City & Guilds and CAA approved training centre and is able to offer the following City & Guilds Unit Accreditation in Carpentry.
During this 10 day accredited carpentry course you will receive training, be assessed and will be building a portfolio of photographic evidence, which is yours to keep and present to potential employers or customers.
The training you will receive will cover the following:
- Use hand tools such as chisels, planes etc.
- Cut basic joints
- Cut and fit, architraves, skirtings and doorstops
- Erect a stud-wall
- Fit a door lining/frame
- Hang a door
- Fit a Lock

This course is designed to provide you with plenty of general carpentry knowledge to ensure that once you leave the training centre, you are confident in all areas of carpentry.
During this training you will be assessed on all of the following 5 units. All 5 assessments must be completed in order to obtain this carpentry unit accreditation
- Fixing skirting to a timber background
- Fixing door lining in stud partition or block work opening
- Hanging an internal door
- Constructing a nail box
- Constructing furniture – garden gate

The City & Guilds certificate and portfolio obtained at the end of this training course will enhance your employability status and provide you with the skills and confidence to a career in carpentry.
After having completed this carpentry training for unit accreditation, you have various options available to you.
These particular units are taken from the City & Guilds 6217-08 - Multi Craft Award. To obtain the full Multi Skills award, please visit the Multi Craft award page for full course details, and to see what other subjects can be covered to achieve the full multi skilled qualification.
Alternatively, if you have really enjoyed learning bricklaying and are looking to specialise in this particular area to qualification standards, you have the option to attend training for a Level 1 City & Guilds in Carpentry or a Level 2 CAA Intermediate Construction Award in Carpentry. Individually, these are 6 week long courses and will provide you with trade specific recognised qualifications.
Equal training and facilities will be offered to everyone regardless which of our courses you choose. All Instructors at Able Skills have been selected because of their on site construction experience and their relevant teaching qualifications.
This training for a carpentry unit accreditation will be suitable whether you are looking to do a DIY project or looking for a career in carpentry, we feel confident that any of our carpentry courses will suit your needs.
