With the world, technology and climate ever changing, City & Guilds have now designed a comprehensive suite of qualifications which will enable individuals to achieve certification at level 3 across a broad spectrum of Environmental Technologies.
Able Skills is an approved City & Guilds Centre and we have achieved approval to offer the full suite of Renewable Technologies which fall within the newly designed City & Guilds 2399.
With the demand for renewable and alternative sources of energy, a high priority on the Government agenda and with the introduction of the FIT's (Feed In Tariffs) there has never been a better time to get involved in the rapidly expanding markets of Solar PV Systems and renewable energy.
Renewable energies and technologies are fast becoming the popular choice for those who understand what our current use of fossil fuels and excessive carbon dioxide emissions are doing to our planet. The demand for installation of these varying systems is on the increase which means that the demand for qualified installers will increase.
These are specialist areas and whether your intention is to be able to just install these systems or install and promote a system of maintenance, these qualifications underpin your ability to do so. Individually they are beneficial skills to have and as a package, much more attractive and marketable.
There is a demand for these technologies and we are in no doubt that very soon, all new builds, renovations, domestic and otherwise will have one form or another of renewable technology to provide their electricity or heat their water and more.
The qualification series: C&G 2399 Qualifications in Environmental Technologies, has been developed to provide you with varying levels of understanding and skills to ensure that you are completely aware of and capable to undertake the installation and maintenance of one or more of the following technologies:
The C&G 2399 covers 4 Renewable disciplines:
• Solar Photovoltaic (PV)
• Solar Thermal
• Heat Pumps
• Water Harvesting and Reuse
Separately, each discipline is recognised for the purpose of MCS registration.
These new City & Guilds qualifications are set at level 3 and are aimed at qualified and experienced Plumbers and/or Electricians and individually, they are structured to provide detailed training and assessment for the purpose of installing the technologies as well as servicing and providing maintenance.
At Able Skills, we are firmly committed to the provision of training in varying forms of Environmental Technologies and therefore have a dedicated training centre already in place to provide a variety of courses relating to these technologies.
The City & Guilds 2399 qualification will be an addition to our already successful set of qualification delivery currently available via Bpec and NICEIC.
Level 3
These level 3 awards are perfect for Continuous Professional Development (CPD), designed to extend the skills of those of you who hold the required existing occupational competence, providing you with the opportunity to increase your knowledge, broaden your scope of work and aid the planet at the same time.
These qualifications, other than the Solar Photovoltaic Systems (previously C&G 2372) are all new to City & Guilds and have been designed to assess candidates by way of Online exams and practical assessments.
The qualifications have been broken down into individual units to cover
• Fundamental Principles and Requirements of Environmental Technology Systems
• Installation of the systems
• Installation and Maintenance of the Systems
Microgeneration-Certification Scheme (MCS) and Competent Person Scheme Providers
The purpose of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme is to evaluate microgeneration products and installers against robust criteria providing greater protection for consumers.
This scheme has the approval from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, industry and non-governmental groups as a prime method for making a substantial contribution to cutting the UK's dependency on fossil fuels and carbon dioxide emissions.
Are you ready for these changes? We are at Able Skills
Other qualifications and skills to consider
These renewable technologies frequently need to be supported by other skills and/or qualifications. Able Skills is also seeking accreditation for:
• PASMA approved training centre
• Manual Handling
• F-Gas
• City & Guilds Carbon Management qualification
This is in addition to the existing courses we currently provide via BPEC and NICEIC in the afore mentioned renewable technologies - please visit relevant pages.
