Welcome to Able Skills C&G 2365-03 Level 3 (Diploma in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures))
Qualification News
The current C&G Electrotechnical qualifications: 2330 levels 2 and 3 are to be replaced by C&G 2365 level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures)and C&G 2365 level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures) from September 2012.
This is excellent news for both colleges and private providers alike as the introduction of these new Electrical qualifications will mean that adult learners will still have a viable option for entry into the electrical industry without having the immediate pressure of achieving NVQ units which the current C&G 2357 places on them.
The courses are intended for those that want to gain practical skills and knowledge in order to gain entry into the electrical industry as an Electrician. They are also suitable for those wanting to update their knowledge and skills for progression within the industry.
Progression can be to the 2357-13 or 2357-23 Diplomas. These are the new sector diplomas that require the candidates to be working as electricians so that work based assessments can be undertaken (similar to the current C&G 2356 – NVQ)
C&G 2365-03 Level 3
The level 3 is the natural progression for anyone who holds the C&G 2330 at level 2, C&G 2365 at level 2 or even those of you who hold the previously accredited C&G 2360 part 1.
Separately, if you have a comprehensive electrical background and have been employed in a commercial/industrial Electricians role for some time, you can be considered for direct entry to level 3 but this will require a brief profiling beforehand - please contact us for details
Attendance for this course will require 7 weeks of training on a full time basis or at weekends on a 2 weekend on and 2 weekend off basis.
If you do not have any existing Electrical qualifications but you would like to start from scratch to give yourself the opportunity to enter the Electrical industry then your starting point would be C&G 2365 at level 2. This is a very comprehensive qualification which effectively covers the previous C&G 2330 at level 2 with additional aspects taken from C&G 2357.
City & Guilds 2365 Electrical courses at Level 3
The City & Guilds 2365 is now the recognised route into the electrical installation industry (from 2012) and will cover underpinning knowledge necessary for the industry.
The C&G 2365 at level 3 covers more advanced topics and is the natural progression and will prepare you for the industry in much more depth covering Electrical Science, Inspection & Testing procedures, Fault Diagnosis and Fault Rectification and Installation Design in preparation for City & Guilds 2394 / 2395 / 2396 should these be your next steps.
This 7 week course of intensive training is the natural progression from level 2 and is a requirement for moving forward to the next stage to obtain an Electrical NVQ (C&G 2357)
We feel that this new and improved qualification is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to invest in training and a future within the electrical industry.
If you remain unsure about what the correct route to the electrical industry is or you are shopping around and becoming a bit disheartened with the excessive amount of information available on various websites, then we suggest that if you are able to, pop in to Able Skills and see firsthand what we do here.
You do not need an appointment, just turn up and look around, have a chat with an electrical instructor and ask whatever questions you have – we feel that this invitation is unrivalled and will most definitely help you decide if Able Skills is where you want to train. We do not have a sales team to hassle you and if you prefer, you can remain anonymous, therefore guaranteeing that we won’t bombard you with calls and emails or even a visit to your home!
Welcome to Able Skills C&G 2365-03 Level 3 (Diploma in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures))
During this course, you will be assessed by practical assessments and assignments with external exams under the guidance of City & Guilds.
The course is split between:
• Workshop practice, to develop the relevant skills to become a competent electrician.
• Electrical principles and installation theory to support the practical skills.
C&G 2365-03 – Level 3 Diploma
There are 5 units within this level 3 Electrical qualification.
They are:
301 - Fundamental Principles and Requirements Of Environmental Technology Systems
Assessed by multiple choice on-line exam
302 - Principles of Electrical Science
Assessed by written exam
303 - Fault Diagnosis and Rectification
Assessed by written assignments and a practical assessment
304 - Installation of wiring systems and enclosures
Assessed by written assignment and practical assessments
305 - Electrical Installation Design
Assessed using a design project and written paper
City & Guilds 2365 at levels 2 and 3 are formal trade qualifications and meet industry requirements, they are therefore suited for progression within the Electrical industry but are especially ideal for people who are looking to retrain and enter the electrical industry for the first time.
Training Facilities and Staff
As these qualifications require both practical workshop tasks as well as classroom based theory; we can assure you that everything is in place to meet your requirements.
Our Electrical training Centre’s have designated training areas and classrooms for each electrical course we offer. We have allocated computer suites so that all online exams can be undertaken in exam conditions, without disruption.
Our practical training bays are equipped with training boards set to exceed specific City & Guilds requirements and all tools and materials are readily available for all of your electrical requirements.
All tools and materials will be organised and made readily available for you as and when you need them. We are not restricted by budget controls and so there will never be a time when you cannot complete a practical task due to lack of materials or tools.
Able Skills employs a technician for the Electrical Centre called Steve who is a former Able Skills student and has undergone all of his Electrical training with us so he knows the course content and layout very well and will give you invaluable support. He ensures that the workshop area is fully equipped at all times which is especially important during times of assessment.
We are keen to make this industry qualification experience as real as it can be so we meet and exceed the requirements set by City & Guilds to guarantee that you will gain as much knowledge and skill as you can at Able Skills, more so than at any FE College or other training provider.
You will have the support of all of Able Skills qualified instructors. Each instructor at Able Skills has the relevant trade experience as well as teaching and assessing awards in order to ensure that your entire course is carried out in full at Able Skills. This ensures that certification is immediate and without delay.
We will provide you with the relevant reference book which is yours to keep once you have finished training.
We would recommend that you obtain a copy of IEE On-Site Guide and a scientific calculator and you will also need safety boots which all students are required to wear when working in the electrical workshops.
Electrical NVQ Achievement
The new electrical qualifications, C&G 2365-02 and 2365-03 will be mapped against the equivalent QCF qualification – in this case C&G 2357 which will mean that once C&G 2365 is complete at level 2 (or equivalent) and level 3, candidates will be eligible to enrol onto the C&G 2357 in order to achieve the NVQ aspect of the award.
These courses can be complimented by the many other Electrical training opportunities at Able Skills:
C&G 2392 - Fundamental Inspection & Testing
C&G 2394 - Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations
C&G 2396 - Inspection & Testing Level 4 Design
