Able Skills has their own accommodation available at £20 per night for those of you who are travelling longer distances to train with us.
This industry qualification is essential for the electrical installer who wishes to enter the sector of commercial electrical installations.
Both the written and practical aspect of the C&G 2391 are complex and therefore this course is suited to those of you with current practical experience of inspection and testing of low voltage electrical installations and who require to become certified.
This training course is not suitable for beginners, it is aimed at practising electricians who have carried out initial verifications on electrical installations and require further training in periodic inspection, testing and reporting.
In addition to relevant practical experience, delegates must possess a good working knowledge of the technical requirements of BS 7671 to City & Guilds certificate standard or equivalent.
Those with less experience must take the three day City & Guilds 2382 BS7671: 2008 Workshop first and in addition, we do recommend that you consider undertaking C&G 2392 Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification or for those of you who only require some basic refresher training, Able Skills 2 day Inspection & Testing course.
If you are a qualified Electrician (C&G 2360/2330/2356 or equivalent) and you are seeking JIB Approved Electrician status then C&G 2391 is a requirement to achieve this.
This four day training course covers the requirements of BS 7671 for inspection, testing and certification and is designed to prepare candidates for both the written and practical examinations.
Candidates gain the skills and knowledge necessary to actually perform the inspection and testing procedures and are able to practice on purpose-built training rigs which simulate electrical installations.
As this course is aimed at qualified Electricians who have some experience of testing, the course is predominantly theory based and will cover:
• Introduction to Inspection & Testing
• Requirements of 17th Edition Wiring Regulations for inspection, testing and certification
• Using Guidance Note 3
• Inspection
• Compliance with relevant legislation
• Determine suitability of installations
• Order of tests
• Use of test equipment & testing procedures
• Test result verification
• Continuity of protective conductors
• Insulation resistance tests
• Polarity and Earth electrode tests
• Earth fault loop impedance tests
• RCD tests
• Rarely used tests & IP ratings
• Exam Preparation
The exam dates for this qualification are set by City & Guilds and we aim to provide this training to you as close to the exam date as is possible. Following this training course, you will undertake a written exam on a pre-designated date (2.5 hours and closed book) and this exam is externally marked.
Able Skills will be notified of your results (pass or fail) within 42 working days and if you are successful, we will arrange for you to return to Able Skills to undertake the second aspect of this award which is a 4 hour practical assessment.
Subject to availability of our Assessors and if preferred by the candidate, we can arrange for the practical aspect of this qualification to be completed before the written results are determined however, the full certificate for this qualification cannot be awarded until both aspects of this award have been completed successfully.
This qualification will not provide unit accreditation if you are successful in only one exam/assessment.

This has been introduced as a result of feedback from centres, to give them guidance in preparing candidates for the written examination but this may also be of use to those of you who have previously sat and been unsuccessful in the written aspect of this qualification.

16 Week Professional Electricians Combined Qualification Level 2/3
Another package of training that will give you a fantastic start in the Electrical industry. This is quite a demanding set of courses but if you don’t feel ready at any time for any of the courses, you have the opportunity to defer them until you are ready – the discount still stands. This package will provide you with the main qualification, C&G 2365 levels 2 and 3 as well as BS7671-17th Edition Wiring Regs, Portable Appliance Testing, Building Regs for Part P and Inspection & Testing qualifications.
8 Week Professional Electricians Qualification Level 2
Able Skills has the facilities and staff in place to offer a wide variety of Electrical courses and we are always keen to offer individuals the opportunity to learn as much as possible in relation to the trade they are entering. As a result, we have several packages available at discounted prices – it is up to you just how much you want to learn. This particular package of learning will provide you with BS7671 – 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, Portable Appliance Testing qualification and also a Building Regulations qualification which will enable you to register for Part P.
7 Week Professional Electricians Qualification Level 3
This level 3 Electricians qualification is the natural progression from C&G 2365 level 2 or for those of you who hold other Electrical industry recognised qualifications like C&G 2360 Part 1 or C&G 2330 level 2. This qualification is required if you are looking to progress within the Electrical industry or if you are looking to move on and achieve NVQ level 3.
City & Guilds Level 3 Qualification for Domestic Electrics
This qualification will be available in full from September 2012 and is a replacement route for anyone looking to become a Domestic Installer and register on to a Part P scheme for the purposes of self-certificating electrical work undertaken within a domestic dwelling

Able Skills properties are licensed HMO (Houses in Multiple Occupation) and are fully equipped in line with local authority standards.
The properties will provide you with your own fully furnished room with washing facilities and TV. There are several bathrooms/WCs as well as fully fitted kitchens and a dining areas to eat and/or meet your fellow students.
Able Skills employs someone to maintain the properties on a regular basis and also to ensure that the property is being looked after by those staying.
We are very pleased to be able to offer this accommodation at £20 per night and we are keen to ensure that your time away from home is enjoyable and comfortable. The properties are situated close to all of our training centres and some have allocated private parking facilities.
This enables you to leave your vehicle in a safe and secure environment and make that short walk to whichever course you are attending.
We are a very popular choice of training centre and as a result we are very busy and so is our accommodation. We would recommend that you make every attempt to tie in any accommodation requirements at the time of booking your course.
If our accommodation is full, there are other local alternatives available which range from £20 per night upwards.
