City & Guilds 2391 Level 3 Inspection & Testing – Theory & Practical Training

C&G 2391 is a very complex qualification to achieve and is ideally suited to those of you who hold formal Electrical qualifications and/or those of you who have industry experience and a good understanding of the requirements to inspect and test an electrical installation.

The theory aspect of this award is determined by way of a closed book, written examination and the theory aspect is broken down into separate units:

• Select the correct instruments or settings and appropriate scales or ranges to carry out tests
• Check and prove instruments and leads for safety and function
• Given the information required carry out the inspection and testing of an installation to the requirements of BS 7671
• Complete a periodic inspection report, as given in BS7671, including two schedules of test results
• Carry out an inspection of installation components and record deviations and complete a schedule of inspections

A Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Verification of Electrical Installations helps you develop the knowledge and practical experience to professionally inspect and test electrical installations and shows your customers that you're a competent installer or tester, and are up to date with national requirements for the industry (BS7671).

We have regularly found that candidates have been keen to undertake theory training only for this award thinking that the practical test would not pose a problem but more frequently we have seen individuals fail aspects of the practical test due to lack of testing experience or preparation.

In order to rectify this situation, we have devised this course to cover both the theory and practical aspects of the award therefore preparing individuals for both the written exam and the practical test.

Theory and Practical Exam Process

The theory exam dates for this qualification are set by City & Guilds and we aim to provide this training to you as close to the exam date as is possible. Following this training course, you will undertake a written exam on a pre-designated date (2.5 hours and closed book) and this exam is externally marked.

Able Skills are notified of your results (pass or fail) within 42 working days and we inform you immediately of the result. If you are successful, we will arrange for you to return to Able Skills to undertake the second aspect of this award which is a 4 hour practical assessment.

Subject to availability of our Assessors and if preferred by the candidate, we can arrange for the practical aspect of this qualification to be completed before the written results are determined however, the full certificate for this qualification cannot be awarded until both aspects of this award have been completed successfully.

This qualification will not provide unit accreditation if you are successful in only one exam/assessment.
