Gas courses may be needed by energy providersEnergy companies could be in need of gas courses in the near future, as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has announced plans to inspect offshore oil and gas installations.
Head of offshore safety at the organisation Steve Walker explained that he will be looking to operators to provide reassurance that they are considering the issue of "ageing and life extension" as part of their future strategy for such facilities.
If there are any problems detected with equipment or procedures on these offshore energy structures, staff may need to attend gas courses to be educated about safety issues.
"Ageing offshore installations run the risk of deterioration, which can have serious consequences for installation and asset integrity. This is not acceptable," remarked Mr Walker.
Earlier this week, the HSE highlighted the importance of its Safety and Health Awareness Days for the agricultural sector and pointed out that they are free of charge to attend.
