Painting & Decorating Course from Able Skills
This course is designed to give you a good understanding in all areas of painting and decorating whether you are a total beginner or someone who has some previous knowledge. No previous experience is necessary in order for you to take part in any of our intensive courses.
We will cover every aspect of painting and decorating that we can and feel confident that after spending 5 days with us, you will be ready to tackle everyday decorating requirements. Should you be looking to do a DIY project or for a change in career, we feel confident that this course will suit you.
You will be taken through different stages every day of your course; we will also explain and demonstrate all the different materials used for different surfaces. All tools and equipment will be fully supplied, explained and demonstrated.
This course will take you through:
- Health and Safety, PPE and safe working practices
- Correct use of tools and equipment used in this trade
- Preparation of new and old surfaces ready for painting
- Repairing imperfections in walls and wood ready for painting
- Application of water based products such as primers, undercoats, emulsion and eggshell using brushes and rollers
- Application of oil based products
- Cutting around obstructions, openings, fittings such as radiators, windows, sockets and switches
- How to use a roller effectively
- Cutting, pasting and hanging wallpaper
This is a hands-on, practical course and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout the course. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.
At the end of your painting/decorating course you will receive an Able Skills Certificate of completion, and you can also have a portfolio and photographs of the stages of the work you have carried out during the period you have trained with us. This may assist you in gaining employment at a later stage.
If you feel that 5 days is not enough to fulfil your needs, Able Skills also offers a 10 day training course which will provide you with a City & Guilds Unit Accreditation. Alternatively, if you are looking to gain a full Painting and Decorating qualification, Able Skills can provide you with a 4 week City & Guilds 6217-03, Painting & Decorating qualification.
