City & Guilds Joinery Course 6217 from Able Skills

carpentry course carpentry course

Carpentry and Joinery can be a very rewarding trade and Carpenters are frequently considered to be amongst the most important trade within the construction industry.
Carpentry work comes in many forms and can include:

  1. Site carpentry
  2. Bench joinery
  3. Furniture Making
  4. Wheelwrighting
  5. Shopfitting

We have been delivering Carpentry training (6217-02) for many years now and it has been amongst our most popular courses. We have delivered training which has provided our students with the skills and knowledge to undertake both first and second fix work within the construction industry. This kind of site work can be very lucrative but there is also a demand for other areas of carpentry to be taught, like Joinery which provides you with the skill and knowledge to construct and assemble joints, using precision measuring and cutting.

It would appear that there is in fact a shortage of skilled Joiners, those carpenters who undertake the more detailed aspects of woodworking so we have now obtained approval from City & Guilds to deliver:

City & Guilds 6217- 05 (Carpentry & Joinery)

This Carpentry & Joinery qualification will provide you with an understanding of how to construct and assemble various joints and qualify as a Joiner.

The range of work you can expect to undertake will include the setting out, marking out and assembly of doors, windows, door frames/linings, stairs and carcass units.

To achieve this Carpentry and Joinery qualification, there are 9 mandatory units to undertake and 1 optional unit. All 10 units are required in order to achieve this award in full.
