Mobile Skills Training for Renewable Technology

Able Skills recognise the level of investment needed to deliver quality training in the field of Renewable Technologies. 

To stay up to date with technology and to be in a position to appeal to a broad spectrum of potential installers and customers, we have recently purchased a complete suite of renewable technology training rigs.

The training suite has been supplied by Christiani who have spent years developing a “mobile” training solution, enabling renewable training delivery to the highest standards.

Able Skills is one of the first centres in the UK to be in the unique position to offer renewable training via this mobile training solution.

Fan convector/collector Solar Thermal pressurised system

This service is available to other centres and FE colleges across the UK, therefore preventing the need for large capital investment.  Able Skills can provide onsite training and assessment anywhere in the country, to national standards and certification.

The training rigs are all individual units which can be easily combined to demonstrate the complimentary use of the different energy sources.

These allow the students the “hands on” approach to learning. The rigs can be commissioned by the students allowing them direct experience which will prove to be essential when they are installing the technology for the first time.

Heat pumps

(air to air and ground source)

The heat pump rig allows the installation of both air to air and air to water applications, used in conjunction with the geothermal energy source this can also be used to demonstrate the use of ground source heat pumps.

The rig allows the demonstration of high pressure and low pressure faults and rectification, allows the user to successfully set up the heat pumps working parameters and commission the collectors and heat distribution system.

This allows the end user the benefits of component identification and a greater understanding of the commissioning process and how different renewable technologies can be integrated together.

The rig is used in conjunction with 2 further rigs to provide a full working heat pump, with different collection methods and different heat distribution delivery systems.

Solar Thermal    

The solar thermal rig demonstrates a complete solar pressurised system allowing the student the freedom to explore all the relevant components of the pump station, solar circuit and the solar collector. The end user can again conduct various tests on the rig and simulate faults in order to understand how these must be rectified.

The rig can be used with the buffer storage unit to store the solar energy for use with hot water or with the Heat Pump unit to demonstrate how solar can be used as pre-heat to the heat pump unit making the heat pump more efficient as a result.

This working rig allows the full demonstration and construction of a pressurised solar system with different heat distribution/storage systems.

Solar PVT rig (combined system)

This is the only rig of its type within the UK, direct from Germany this latest rig demonstrates how renewable technologies are now evolving. This rig combines Solar PV capture together with Solar Thermal in the same panel.

The capture of Solar Thermal energy creates a cooling affect on the PV panel making the panel more efficient. This allows the panel to yield a greater return whilst also capturing solar energy which can be used for heat distribution through the buffer storage tank.

Able Skills is the only training centre in the UK to have this hybrid training rig which is used to clearly demonstrate the use of integration different renewable technologies to increase the overall efficiencies of both methods of energy capture. This is a look at the future for renewable technologies.

This fully interchangeable system of rigs allows clear “hands on” demonstration of green technologies.

It allows for:-
