Workers could find themselves in demand for Newcastle schools project

Gas workers and industry professionals with approved electrical or plumbing qualifications could benefit from new projects across four schools in Newcastle.
It was announced today (November 30th) by Newcastle City Council that Gosforth Junior High, Sir Charles Parsons Special School, St Mary's RC Comprehensive and Walker Technology College are set to get state-of-the-art refurbishments as part of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) scheme.
These will include recycling centres, biomass boilers to provide renewable energy, lights and taps that know to turn off automatically when not needed and cycling routes.
Councillor and executive member for children and young people Nick Cott commented that the scheme "is about transforming the way our children and young people learn and the way they feel about their schools".
Electricians, plumbers and electricians could be essential to implementing this innovative technology to a high standard and ensure the pupils get the most out of their facilities.
Partnerships for Schools, the organisation responsible for BSF, recently announced a £12 million plan to install smart meters in schools across the country.
