Able Skills has designed this 5 day Advanced course for people who have completed our 5 day Intensive Painting & Decorating course and want to take things a step further.

This course will provide you with training in more complex areas and will also provide you with a very good understanding of accessing for painting and decorating, ensuring that you always work safely and legally.

Our total hands on approach guarantees that throughout your training time at Able Skills you will be continually involved and, with years of experience behind us, we know that this is the best method of teaching available. The knowledge and experience of your instructor will be passed on to you throughout the training and every tip and trade secret will be available. We will ensure that you receive reality training which will prepare you for any jobs you go on to undertake.

Whether you are here for DIY purposes or here for career enhancement, we will guarantee to provide quality, value for money training and we will ensure that you will gain detailed knowledge which will enable you to move forward in this industry.

Our total hands on approach guarantees that throughout your training time at Able Skills you will be continually undertaking practical tasks, it is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. All tools and materials will be provided throughout your training period.

Painting & Decorating Progression and Qualifications

At Able Skills, we also deliver training and assessment for qualifications:

• 4 Week C&G Painting & Decorating Qualification
• 5 Week C&G Painting & Decorating Qualification
• 6 Week Level 2 C&G Painting & Decorating Qualification
• 7 Week Level 2 C&G Painting & Decorating Qualification or even an
• 8 Week Level 3 Painting & Decorating Qualification

These longer training plans delve that little bit deeper into Painting & Decorating and gives you the opportunity to look at your technique, gain confidence and build speed. These particular Painting & Decorating training courses cover additional specialist decorating and other decorating related areas so that Painting & Decorating for a living will come easy to you.

If you decide to upgrade, we will adjust your training time and fees to accommodate for the 5 day Painting & Decorating course you have already completed. Whether you do decide to upgrade or not, the week spent with us will not have been wasted as you will have gained a great deal of practical knowledge.

At Able Skills, we try to make all training as accessible to everyone as possible. If you would like to learn to tile but have work or other weekly commitments, we offer this Advanced Painting & Decorating training over 2 consecutive weekends.

Welcome to Able Skills 5 day Advanced Painting & Decorating Courses

Having attended our Intensive course you will now have the opportunity add more complex decorating tasks to your skill set

This course will include:

• Accessing for painting & decorating such as erecting a small tower scaffold and detailed explanation of ladder safety
• Detailed underpinning knowledge of Health and Safety: Working at heights regulations
• Preparation of a full room area for a patterned wallpaper scheme
• Cross lining: Hanging lining paper horizontally as a base layer for wallpaper
• Application of emulsion and oil based paints for a pattern papered room
• Application of emulsion and oil based paints for a painted wallpaper scheme (anaglyptic, blown vinyl and wood engrained papers)
• Paper hanging: Hanging 2 pattern papers to a full room area:- one with set pattern design, one with drop pattern design

In addition, we will also cover:

• Pastes and sizing
• New plaster substrates
• Dry lined substrates
• Surface defects: causes and cures
• Paper hanging defects: causes and cures
  
  

If after having spent 10 days with Able Skills on an Intensive and Advanced programme of training, you feel that you would like to go on and gain qualifications in Painting & Decorating, we can offer 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 week training programmes however, the timings of these can be adjusted to take account of some of the training you have already received, we will also adjust the price accordingly.

Whether you do decide to upgrade or not, the time spent with us will not have been wasted as you will have gained a great deal of practical knowledge.

I heard about Able Skills though word and mouth and also on a search of the internet. I got told about Able Skills and how good it was there and also when I phoned up to book my course they understood how the army even better than me. It is close to my home and how easy it was to book and also that they have accommodation for only £20 a night is very reasonable. I am on my 2^nd week of an 8 week painting and decorating course and I have learnt so much already even though i have had previous experience, the knowledge that mark passes on is second to none, very professional and knowledgeable and he is always aware at what stage you are at within your NVQ. How he keeps up is unbelievable. He is an excellent instructor his explanations and demonstrations are great and gives you exactly what you require and more about the industry outside in the real world.
