Able Skills has their own accommodation available at £20 per night for those of you who are travelling longer distances to train with us.

Able Skills is constantly looking to offer as much as is possible in the way of Electrical training to everyone regardless of their background, age or experience and we are constantly devising discounted Electrical training packages to try and cater for everyone.
Our dedicated Domestic Installer Training Centre has been built to cater for both practical and classroom theory. The training carried out in our workshop bays reflect what you will come across within a domestic dwelling and you will quickly understand what you are legally allowed to undertake within the scope of Part P.
The mixture of both practical and theory guarantees that you will leave our training centre with a full understanding of domestic wiring systems, terminology and more importantly you will be fully aware of the legal requirements when carrying out any domestic electrical installations.
This particular 13 days of Electrical training is primarily aimed at those of you who do not have a background in domestic installation but who are keen to undertake electrical work within domestic dwellings, safely and legally.
Throughout the training you will receive continual guidance to ensure that you understand every aspect of each course fully.
All the information that you will require to allow you to register with a Governing body onto a Part P scheme will be explained in detail. Candidates who successfully complete course 2 (EAL VRQ) will then be able to register onto a Part P scheme and undertake certain installations within domestic dwellings.
Being Part P registered provides you with the ability to self certify the work you have undertaken.
• This Electrical training package can be broken down into 3 separate training blocks, starting with our 5 day Introductory Electrical course.
This 5 day Electrical course has been put together by our Electricians to cover the practical elements of domestic installations but at the same time is devised with Part P in mind and so you will always be guided towards what work you can and cannot undertake in a domestic dwelling.
• The second aspect of this Electrical package will be the Domestic Installer qualification: EAL VRQ Level 2. This Electrical course is 80% theory and will take you through 9 modules on the theory of domestic Electrical Installation, undergoing assessments throughout the week. As the training progresses, you are guided through the Building Regulations then assessed at the end of the week by a multiple choice exam.
• The final part of this Electrical package is City & Guilds 2382: 17th Edition wiring regulations. This 3 day course is entirely classroom based and is assessed by an on-line, open book external exam set by City & Guilds. Undertaking this qualification is a requirement of any Part P Governing body that you choose to register with.
Obtaining this qualification proves to your Governing body that you have progressed with your understanding of electrical installations and that you have gained familiarity with the layout, content and application of the BS 7671 (2008) 17th Regulations Edition.
Choose how you undertake this training - our flexibility means that you can plan ahead.
You can choose to train on consecutive weeks with us if you have the time and we have the availability although we do suggest that you consider taking a breather between the EAL VRQ Level 2 and City & Guilds 2382.
The purpose in taking a break would be to give yourself the time to familiarise yourself with the wiring regulations, understanding when and where to look for the information required to guide you safely and correctly through any installations you undertake.
You can also undertake this package in 3 separate blocks if that suits you better as all of our courses run all of the time and with notice, we are confident that we can deliver your training needs within your required timeframe.
Able Skills is open 7 days every week and we welcome visitors at all times. Please feel free to come along to view our facilities, have an informal chat with any one of our instructors and meet existing students.
We feel that this is an excellent introduction for anyone looking to invest in training and this option will help you decide if Able Skills is where you want to train.

I took the 5 day introduction to electrics with Able Skills. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole week, it was very informative and taught in the simplest way possible to gain a good understanding very quickly. The course Tutor was quick to inform us “there’s no such thing as a stupid question” and was happy to answer anything and everything we threw at him! Great value for money and I would definitely recommend
