Able Skills has put together a package of various Electrical training courses and qualifications for those of you looking to enter the Domestic Installer industry and be taken from a complete beginner to a level which will see you not only competent in your own electrical installation abilities but will also provide you with a qualification to declare your understanding of practical instrument testing.

This package of electrical training will also benefit those of you who are eventually looking to undertake City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations) which ultimately will allow you to be able to test the installations of others.

Electrical Qualifications Available

20 days of Electrical training, comprising of 5 Electrical Courses, assessments and examinations will see you taken through a variety of practical tasks to ascertain your installation competencies and lead you towards:

  1. Part P qualifications at level 2,
  2. level 3 City & Guilds qualifications (2382)
  3. level 3 City & Guilds qualifications (2377)
  4. level 2 City & Guilds (2392)

This Electrical training package can be broken down into 4 separate training blocks, starting with our 5 day Introductory Electrical course. This 5 day Electrical course has been put together by our Electricians to cover the practical elements of domestic installations but at the same time is devised with Part P in mind and so you will always be guided towards what work you can and cannot undertake in a domestic dwelling.

The second aspect of this Electrical package will be the Domestic Installer qualification: EAL VRQ Level 2. This Electrical course is a mixture of practical and theory assessments and will take you through various modules. As you go through the week you are guided through the Building Regulations then assessed at the end of the week by a multiple choice exam.

The third part of this Electrical package is City & Guilds 2382:17th Edition wiring regulations. Undertaking this electrical qualification is a requirement of any Part P Governing body that you choose to register with. Obtaining this qualification proves to your Governing body that you have progressed with your understanding of electrical installations and that you have gained familiarity with the layout, content and application of the BS 7671 (2008) 17th Regulations Edition. In addition to this electrical course, we will also provide you with training and exam for City & Guilds 2377- Portable Appliance Testing. This is not an essential element of Part P but there is a legal accountability on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions regulations and to take reasonable and practical steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of electrical equipment, a very useful level 3 qualification to hold.

Finally, City and Guilds 2392-10 is a level 2 City & Guilds qualification which is specifically aimed at electricians and others who have limited or no experience in the use of test instruments. The course is structured and designed to prepare candidates who wish to go on to achieve the City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate 2391-10.
