PAT Testing Course

Every item of electrical equipment in a commercial environment is required to be tested to ensure that it is safe to use and has been marked safe, this is PAT testing (Portable Appliance Testing)   

The PAT Testing scheme is designed to ensure that those responsible for the maintenance and/or  practical inspection and testing of electrical equipment are familiar with the use of the IEE Code of Practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 places a legal accountability on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and to take reasonable and practical steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of electrical equipment - this requires a regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing.

This course will enable delegates to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to be able to instigate and implement a testing programme for testing portable electrical appliances and the C&G 2377-12 confirms to industry that an individual is qualified to undertake this testing to a competent level.

A City & Guilds Certificate for the Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment will be awarded to those candidates who successfully complete a 1 hour multiple-choice examination.

This  two day practical and theory based course will cover everything necessary to successfully achieve the City and Guilds certification: 2377-12.

We will take you through the practical disciplines and formal recording processes, as well as preparing you for the online City and Guilds 2377-12 exam.

This is an intensive 2 days of training with a 30 question multiple choice open book exam on the second day and we recommend that prior to attending this course, you purchase a copy of the IEE Code of Practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment to study and familiarise yourself with.
