Weekend Plumbing Courses from Able Skills
Able Skills is keen to offer the opportunity to gain a skill to everyone so if you have commitments Monday – Friday but would still like to attend a plumbing course, we can offer you our Intensive and Advanced Plumbing courses over 2 consecutive week end periods.
The course content remains unchanged, 5 days training condensed into 4. The quality of training is not affected and you will still receive the same expert tuition as is delivered on our full time, weekly courses. These courses are entirely hands on and we are confident that you will gain a great deal of plumbing ability and will have gained a very good basis to undertake plumbing tasks, even in this short period of time.
These weekend courses will not qualify you as a plumber but Able Skills can provide you with that opportunity should that be your choice. We are an approved City & Guilds training and assessment centre and successfully deliver City & Guilds 6129 – Level 2, including the opportunity to obtain this qualification with training at weekends.

- Fault Finding
Advanced Plumbing Course Content
- Running flow & return from boiler
- Fitting 36x18 indirect cylinder
- Fitting cold water storage tank
- Fitting feed & expansion tank
- Fitting motorised valves & pump
- Running flow & return to radiators
- Understanding wiring of heating systems
- Micro-bore central heating
- Sealed systems
These plumbing courses are designed to cover all areas of domestic plumbing. However, If there are any additional requirements you have or any specific projects you are looking to cover, we will do our best to accommodate you and structure a plumbing course to suit you individually.
No previous experience is necessary in order to take part in any of our plumbing courses.
With these new skills you will have the confidence to take on everyday DIY projects around the house or develop your expertise to a career in plumbing.
Should you decide that you would like to gain plumbing qualifications, we can offer you training to achieve City & Guilds 6129, training for 10 or 15 weeks or City & Guilds 6129 – Weekend training. Able Skills can offer you progression to achieve anything from a level 2 qualification through to NVQ and all additional related subjects. Please visit the relevant pages to see if we have a training and payment plan to suit you. This qualification is industry recognised and is considered the entry requirement into the plumbing sector.
Gas Training: There is now an alternative route into the gas industry which is slightly more relaxed but still strictly governed. This route is known as “the Approved Prior Learning” route. A 5 day intensive plumbing course and a 5 day advanced plumbing course will now be acceptable as proof of having mechanical engineering skills which qualify you to enrol onto our Gas training course. Equally, these training plans at weekends will also provide you with the same opportunity. Throughout the duration of your time with us, plumbing tools and equipment will be fully supplied, explained and demonstrated. If you wish to purchase any tools once you have completed your training, these are available at www.abletools.co.uk
It is essential you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.
