Able Skills has been approved by CITB to provide training, assessment and certification in the following:

These qualifications will compliment any Plumbing qualification you have or are looking to gain. These are regulatory qualifications and will benefit you and save you money when you are undertaking plumbing related work, enabling you to provide a complete plumbing service.
We offer these courses individually, as a package or if you are looking to gain a plumbing qualification, they are also included in our Complete Plumbing Training package.
Able Skills has the staff in place to train, assess and internally verify every aspect of each course and this ensures that the entire process is completed without delay. For the Unvented and Water Regulations aspect of the training, you will need to book at least 4 weeks in advance of attendance in order to ensure you receive all required reading material in plenty of time, allowing you the best possible chance of successfully completing the award.
Unvented Hot Water Systems
This course is designed for any candidate wishing to install or maintain Unvented Hot Water Systems.
The course has been produced to enable plumbing and heating engineers to confirm their competence in unvented hot water storage systems including the installation and safety requirements of all Unvented Hot Water Systems up to 500 litres capacity and to meet Building Regulations (G3). Upon successful completion, it will allow membership of CORGI's unvented hot water competent persons scheme or another industry standard competence persons schemes.

- Unvented hot water systems and their operating principles
- Design and installation of unvented hot water storage systems
- Maintenance of unvented hot water storage systems
- Meeting the requirements of the Building Regulations Part L1 - Conservation of Fuel and Power
- Sealed central heating systems
Course procedure
A self-study pack will be sent out to the student 2-3 weeks before the assessment day. The course assessment is split into three parts. A multiple choice paper, a maintenance paper and a practical fault finding session.

Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) Certificate
This course covers the Water Regulations 1999. The course does not require the candidate to undertake prior learning as all the requirements will be covered during the course. Upon completion, the successful candidates will receive a certificate and card which will allow them to apply for approved plumbing contractor status with the Water Authorities. This course is certificated by CITB and is WRAS approved.
This 1 day course covers the knowledge required to be assessed on LOGIC's Water Regulation certificate. This means you can self-certify your plumbing work.

Energy Efficiency
The CITB/IDHEE Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating Certificate is for the professional heating installer who works in domestic properties, this course will prepare you for "self certification" The certificate will demonstrate your competence and is recognised by CORGI, The Energy Savings Trust and The Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes. Bringing you up to date with current regulations and giving you a recognised qualification in Energy efficiency

Solar Domestic Hot Water Heating
This 2 day course is to give an entry level qualification for experienced domestic heating installers or plumbers, wishing to extend their work scope into solar heating. The course is recognised under the Low Carbon Building Programme for accredited installer status. It covers all major indirect system & panel types. The candidate should hold a G3 certificate in domestic unvented hot water systems. It is also essential that the trainee holds one ODPM recognised competency in a conventional fuel i.e. gas, oil or solid fuel; or for those in the plumbing field an NVQ level 2 or equivalent plumbing qualification. Experience in basic electrical practice would also be desirable. A basic knowledge of the Water (fittings) regulations is also desirable. The course is not intended to cover roof or access work in detail (other than to highlight legislative requirements). Price includes the certification fee.
