Welcome to Able Skills Week End City & Guilds Carpentry Course 6217 - 02

Due to high demand, we have now been able to restructure our facilities to provide weekend training in order to obtain a City & Guilds qualification in Carpentry. If you have commitments through the week which do not enable you to attend training then this option may suit you better.

This will involve 12 weekends of hands on training with just one full week at the end to cover your final assessment. This course can be covered over a period to suit you as long as you complete the entire course within 18 months. You can train for 12 consecutive weekends or divide your time up. At Able Skills we aim to make our qualifications as accessible as is possible and additionally we offer a payment plan which, following a deposit, is on a pay as you train basis.

The course will provide you with in depth training during which time you will be assessed by our qualified carpentry assessors and build a portfolio of your work to prove your ability and knowledge. The entire City & Guilds process is completed here on site at Able Skills which ensures this course is delivered using the correct procedures and without delay.

There are 6 mandatory Units and you must complete any 2 Units from the 3 optional units to be awarded a certificate in full.

The 6 Mandatory Units are:

The 3 Optional Units are:

  • 059 Accessing for carpentry and joinery
  • 060 Setting out and cutting one pair of common rafters
  • 061 Operating basic wood machines

If you are still unsure if Carpentry is the career of your choice, why not try our 5 day Intensive Carpentry course first or the intensive course over 2 weekends. This will help you decide if you want to progress to a qualification and a career in Carpentry.

This is a hands-on, practical course, it is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. All tools and materials will be provided throughout your training period.

City & Guilds Weekend Carpentry Course:
