City & Guilds Weekend Painting & Decorating 6217-03
Able Skills is open 7 days every week and as such, we are able to provide you with the opportunity to obtain a City & Guilds Painting and Decorating qualification using weekend training.
The training has been structured so that you can join the programme at any time throughout the year; the training pattern will be on a two weekends on / two weekends off basis.
This training has been devised to offer those of you with ongoing weekly commitments, the opportunity to obtain a recognised qualification in Painting & Decorating. During your time at Able Skills, you will receive training in all of the relevant areas and you will be assessed on individual units, building a portfolio of evidence as you go. You can spread your chosen weekends over a period to suit you although the entire award must be completed within 18 months.
In order to achieve the award in the required time, we would look to allocate your training time to:
- 8 weekends initially and to finish, a block of 5 days (Mon-Fri) will be required.
- To help you further to achieve this award, we can also provide you with a payment plan which allows you to spread your payments over the training period, interest free.
Able Skills Painting & Decorating Instructor has many years industry experience and in addition, teaching experience which has seen him achieve both his Assessor award and Internal Verification award. These qualifications ensure that the entire City & Guilds process can be completed without any delay at all, onsite at Able Skills Painting and Decorating training centre.
City & Guilds Painting & Decorating 6217 - 03
To be fully certificated for this Painting & Decorating award, you must achieve 6 mandatory units and any 2 from the 7 optional units
The 6 Painting & Decorating Mandatory Units are:
- 006 – Painting a timber window frame
- 007 – Applying emulsion to wall by roller
- 008 – Painting doors and frames
- 009 – Applying oil based paint to walls by roller
- 062 – Removing and hanging wallpaper to walls
- 063 – Hanging paper to ceilings and painting
The 7 Painting & Decorating Optional Units are:
- 010 – Rust removal and priming metal
- 011 – Applying paint by spraying
- 012 – Introduction to glazing for painting and decorating
- 013 – Using broken colour techniques
- 014 – Working with hardwood finishes
- 015 – Removing and refitting a water-filled radiator
- 064 – Introduction to artexing and coving

This will help you decide if you want to progress to a qualification and a career as a painter/decorator and if you choose to upgrade, we will make adjustments in time and cost to allow for the time which you have already spent with us. 
This is a hands-on, practical course, it is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing, preferably overalls and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. All tools and materials will be provided throughout your training period.

Weekend City & Guilds Painting and Decorating Course Fees are £1795.00 (inc vat)
