Welcome to Able Skills Introductory and Advanced Weekend Plastering Courses

At Able Skills we prefer to be able to give everybody the opportunity to learn a new skill which is why we are open 7 days every week. Those of you who are unavailable to train through the week are given the opportunity to train at weekends to learn to plaster.

Both our Introductory Plastering course and Advanced Plastering courses are available over two consecutive weekends per course and are taught by Spencer and Jo.

These are hands-on, practical courses and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout the course. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. All tools and materials will be provided throughout your training period.

Able Skills Introductory and Advanced Weekend Plastering Courses

The content for the weekend courses differ slightly from the 5 day courses and you will cover:

Introductory Plastering Weekend Training:

•    To cut and fix angle beads around windows and reveals
•    To mix plastering materials.
•    To prepare surfaces
•    To plaster walls.
•    To plaster ceilings
•    To apply PVA adhesive Unibond to existing surfaces

Once you have completed the Introductory course, either at the weekend or over 5 days, you can also cover our Advanced plastering course at weekends.

Advanced Plastering Weekend Training:

•    Cutting and setting beads
•    Applying PVA adhesive Unibond to existing surfaces
•    Skimming walls
•    Skimming ceilings
•    Plastering reveals – internal and external
•    Repairing damaged plaster
•    Bonding out
•    Internal Angle Trowel techniques
•    Plastering around wall sockets and
•    Plastering around ceiling roses
•    Cut and attach board to walls using Dot & Dab method

Plastering Qualifications at Weekends
Should you wish to further your education in plastering; Able Skills can offer you City & Guilds qualifications as follows:

• 5 week plastering qualification
• 7 week plastering qualification
• 6 week plastering qualification
• 8 week plastering qualification or even a
• 10 week level 3 plastering qualification

The above qualifications are achievable using weekend training although there will always be a period towards the end of the City & Guilds aspect of the course where you will need to attend for a solid 9 day block. This can be completed by starting on a Saturday and running 9 days straight to the following Sunday. If the qualification option you choose is one of the ones that has NVQ attached to it then this aspect of the course will be completed at weekends after the 9 day block has been completed. Interest free payment plans are attached to all of these qualification training options.

Able Skills is open 7 days every week and most courses can be completed either through the week (Mon-Fri) or at weekends (Sat-Sun) – Please call for details

A deposit will secure your start date and any balance can be paid on the start date or spread over the period of your training – Interest Free!

Introduction to Plastering

This short intensive course is ideal for those of you who want some basic introductory plastering skills or for individuals who want to gain an insight into the plastering industry with a view to progressing further and achieving qualifications.

Duration: 5 Days

1 Weekend Plastering Course

If you just want a very basic overview of plastering in order to complete a small job you have at home then this 2 day plastering course at weekends will be just what you need.

Duration: 1 Weekends

6 Week Professional Plastering Course

If you are looking to achieve a recognised qualification in Plastering then this 6 week option is the perfect place to start. The course is predominantly hands on and you will receive training and assessment to confirm your plastering competence. Weekend training for this is also available.
