This entire package requires 16 weeks of ‘in centre’ training followed by work based assessments to achieve the NVQ level 3 and at some stage, a return to the centre to achieve the AM2.
How You’ll Learn
This package is a real mix of practical and theory. The larger qualifications like the C&G 2365 will provide you with both classroom and work-shop time. Assessments will be by a variety of processes including on-line exams, written exams, assignments and practical assessments. We provide the relevant City & Guilds produced text books to support the course as well as a free tool-kit which is yours to keep. The 17th Edition course is entirely classroom based with a multiple choice on-line exam, the PAT Testing courses are predominantly theory, again with on-line exams although there is also a practical assessment to be completed.
The Inspection and Testing courses are where you will find all of your learning coming in to play. These courses are assessed by ‘closed book’ written exams, an online exam and again, practical assessments. You will really need to dig deep and dedicate additional learning to achieving these qualifications but that’s what makes them worth having.
The NVQ is then over to you – You dictate the pace of completing this qualification as to achieve this requires you to have access to work which is why all of the other qualifications need to be achieved first – certificates received from the other courses are what will lead you to finding the right work for you. Finally, the AM2 will complete the package – this is an independent assessment (Able Skills has an AM2 centre which is separate from our Electrical training facilities) and once you achieve this, you will be completely qualified to access the JIB Gold Card which will open many more doors for you.
As you can clearly see, the term GOLD CARD is very appropriate here – you will have worked very hard to have achieved all of the above qualifications and it will all definitely be worth it as status as a Qualified Electrician will stay with you for life.
Later on you could always consider next steps qualifications like City and Guilds Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical Installations. Able Skills are also an IET Centre of Excellence and we have the approval to offer level 5 Electrical Management courses too.
Able Skills will provide you with the books to assist with the learning for the C&G 2365 qualifications however you will need to look to obtain the following for the other courses.
