We run a large variety of different electrical courses here at our training facility in Dartford. Week after week we continue to develop our students into professionals. If you are already an experienced electrician, but you are looking to gain some extra skills and knowledge then PAT Testing or Portable Appliance Testing could be what you are looking for! Get it done at the start of the new year, we currently have 4-spaces for this 2-day course starting February 14th 2020! 

 

 

What is PAT Testing?

 

We are sure you're familiar if you are an experienced electrician but for those who are not sure -  Portable Appliance Testing is the term used to describe the testing of electrical equipment to ensure it is safe for use. Here at Able Skills, we run a 2-day long PAT Testing Course in an attempt to cover the requirements of both experienced electricians and those with non-electrical backgrounds. - There is no law which states that PAT testing is compulsory. However, when it comes to electrical equipment, employers should take a risk-based approach, always ensuring that the equipment is safe to use, with no damage to the wires or plug visible.

 

How does this course work?

 

Well...The course is arraigned to be completed over a period of 2-days during which you will we will cover; electrical safety regulations, role and responsibilities, insulation and earthing, classification of appliances, preliminary inspection, test precautions, appliance testing using a portable tester, essential and optional tests, labelling tests, reporting and recording results and implementing a test programme.

The course will be completed by sitting two separate exams that will be taken here at our training centre - Both on-line exams are open-book so it is essential that you have a copy of IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
