What is the latest Government advice?

Chancellor, Rishi Sunak has now extended the Furlough Scheme until mid-March 2021. The rules are unchanged - whilst furloughed, employees can engage and enrol onto a training course to enhance skills and further their education. So, the answer is yes you can engage in any remote training that you would like including our Home-Study courses. This is a great way to make a more inspiring start to the year and in turn work towards a better and more stable career for yourself in the long term. What you are not supposed to do whilst furloughed is make money for any other kind of organisation and or provide services for your current organisation. Almost 10 million people are currently in the same situation, instead of being bored at home make this time productive and take advantage of remote training options!

How do Home-Study courses work?

Our Home-Study options for both City &  Guilds Level 2 & 3 qualifications are a great opportunity to get started working towards a new career at your own pace. These option work by giving you a 'Home-Study Pack' which effectively will replace the instructor for just the theory side in your own time, at home you'll study the information provided once you feel confident in that knowledge, you'll book in time with us to learn the practical, hand-on side and complete the relevant assessments. In addition to the pack, you will also receive the relevant City & Guilds textbooks as well as access to the online learning platform Smartscreen and contact details for one of our expert instructors. To get started, give us a call on 01322 280 202

Here are the City Guilds official textbooks you'll receive alongside our Home-Study Pack.

Once you have gained a good understanding of the theory side of the course through studying at home you will look to book 4-weeks if you're taking on the Level 2 and 3-weeks if you're taking the Level 3 to take on the practical side here in our workshops when it is safe to do so. During this time you will be taught by the very same instructors that you would on the traditional course and receive the same high-level, comprehensive training that we have been teaching for almost 20-years! We are proud of the training that we provide and our talented instructors will prepare you fro the industry by covering all of the relevant topics at a good pace that challenges you and guides you towards a new, successful career in the trade! After this course you will require additional training before looking for work, however, this is the ultimate starting point for an aspiring electrician and will give you the best possible foundation to build upon.
