Yet another huge construction project in England, A huge construction that will see as many as 900 people are expected to be employed at the peak of work on the £160m project, which involves the construction of flight simulators, a maintenance unit, new hangars and storage facilities.

Construction projects like this are popping up all over the country and employing thousands of people, there is so much opportunity in this sector and this notion is supported by statistics! The industry as a whole accounts for approximately 3 million jobs, 10% of total UK employment! Construction output in the UK is more than £110 billion a year and contributes 7% of GDP.

The number of construction projects as seen in these charts is only on the increase, obviously, you can see after the financial recession the overall output of both public & private sector was down. However,  the last couple of years seem extremely positive for the industry and it is only forecast to continue to increase!

Getting ideas? You would be right to be interested, an increase in the overall output of the industry is beneficial for everyone involved! Construction workers wages are on the rise in parallel to the boom in construction, across the board in all construction trades!

Construction projects require all types of diffrent trades from; bricklayers, carpenters, plasterers, tilers, decorators and many more. We here at Able Skills offer construction courses in all of these diffrent trades that can give you the knowledge, understanding and practical experience to get out there into the world of work!

Step one:

 

Step one is deciding which of our construction trades you would like to get involved with, we have at least two instructors working each trade that are here to help you and push you to be the best you can be! All of our construction trades are taught in one location here in Dartford! Here is a list of our construction trades: 

Our range of Multi-Skills Courses are for those looking to do a course that covers a lot of diffrent trades all in one course this is very useful for people who for example, are coming to our training centre to undertake property development or refurbishment work then they could take a Property Development Course that will cover the basics is all trades from Tiling to Electrical!

Step Two:

 

Next, you will need to decide on which course you take...each construction trade has many diffrent courses and qualifications within, the type of course you choose or can enrol on is dependant on your current ability and knowledge in that sector. For example, if you are interested in taking one of our Bricklaying Courses, but you have no experience at all then you should consider enrolling firstly on an Introduction to Bricklaying Course. Then once completed the next level would be a City & Guilds Bricklaying Course! These bricklaying courses are a great start for somebody looking to take the trade on professionally, we have no doubt that once you leave Able Skills, you will be able to find work in the industry!

If you are already an experienced worker in a trade, but you are looking to gain an official qualification, certificate or NVQ we have courses available to you as well that will get you to where you want to be and help you achieve that qualification!

For example, if you are looking to gain an NVQ or National Vocational Qualification and you have been working in the industry for more than 5 years and you can show evidence of this you can take the EWPA route, EWPA or Experienced Worker Practical Assesment is a fast track route that will mean you can take the test here at Able Skills. Whereas if you haven't been working in the industry for at least 5 years then you will need to take the competency test on-site meaning you will need to be in employment and be charged to send an Able skills assessor to your place of work!

Step Three:

 

There are multiple ways to enrol in a course, you can apply through our website!
