UK architect Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RHSP) has been chosen to lead a redesign of the Montparnasse district of Paris!

 

The aim is to turn the 9ha district into a coherent urban space by means of pedestrianisation, new wooden buildings, the addition of 10,000 sqm of parkland and the planting of 2,000 trees to create an “urban forest”. It manages to combine minimal demolition, respect Paris’ height limits and the addition of about 20,000 sqm of residential and commercial units, which will be used to finance the work, which is expected to come to about £700m.

This is a huge construction project that will take time and a hefty workforce! The construction industry is booming in terms of projects such as this across the globe, however, there is a lack of skilled workers. Especially in the UK, this is currently a big obstacle for construction firms who are aiming to build residential and commercial buildings but are struggling to staff such an ordeal.

Each construction trade has many diffrent types of courses and qualifications within, the type of course you choose or can enrol on, is dependant on your current ability and knowledge in that sector. For example, if you are interested in taking one of our Bricklaying Courses, but you have no experience at all then you should consider enrolling firstly on an Introduction to Bricklaying Course. Then once completed the next level would be a City & Guilds Bricklaying Course! These bricklaying courses are a great start for somebody looking to take the trade on professionally, we have no doubt that once you leave Able Skills, you will be able to find work in the industry!
