Deal signed for 750 modular homes in the UK

One of the UK’s biggest housing associations, Places for People, has announced a £100m joint venture to deliver hundreds of modular homes.
This is the biggest deal yet for the modular housing sector in the UK. The housing association will be buying hundreds of units and building many homes under this new method of modular construction!
Modular buildings and modular homes are prefabricated buildings or houses that consist of repeated sections called modules. They are built off-site and then brought on-site where they are joined together to form the housing structure.
Places for People will buy 750 units from a construction partner ilke Homes, including 500 for sites it already owns and 250 for new schemes to build affordable and market-priced housing. This is in an effort to beat last years target which resulted in the construction of over 2.600 homes across the UK!
The housing boom is important for all aspects of construction. Every trade has its part to play in the construction of homes! The UK government has proposed a plan to built a target of 300,000 homes in the country by the end of the year!

Housing supply statistics in England
As you can see via this graph, the demand for residential housing is on the increase and is forecast to continue to do so for the foreseeable future. This is a market that all current and future construction workers should keep an eye on! There is money to be made in this industry and gaining the right construction training and qualifications is the key to success!
This is a very ambitious target and will require a lot of similar moves from housing associations, construction firms and so on.
