basics of bricklayingIt isn’t just long courses we offer here at Able Skills, we accommodate for those looking to learn the basics of DIY bricklaying.

We run lots of bricklaying courses here at Able Skills, from short beginner’s courses to much longer qualification courses for those looking for a new start in their career. One of our most popular bricklaying courses is the 5-day introduction course.

The 5-day Bricklaying course at Able Skills has been recognised by City & Guilds as a comprehensive introduction to bricklaying and if you choose this option to learn bricklaying, you will receive a City & Guilds certificate to recognise the time spent with us.

This is an ideal beginners’ course and throughout the 5 days you will learn aspects of bricklaying ranging from setting out building lines to covering brick and block work. You will build a corner, a pillar, a pier and a cavity wall. You will also learn how to do pointing for face work and how to put in a damp course.

This is a real hands-on instructor lead practical course. You will undertake a variety of tasks to ensure that you have a good understanding of the basic principles of bricklaying so that when you leave the centre, you feel confident in your bricklaying abilities.

We have a very high rate of students taking this course and upgrading to the higher qualification course as they enjoyed it so much. This week of training will be taken off your qualification course when you upgrade.

Most of our students on the short course are here for a basic knowledge of bricklaying as they plan personal projects in their own home. However, we also see a lot of small business owners and other tradesmen and women coming to get a basic knowledge to help them in their every day work.

If you are interested in learning the basics of bricklaying with any of our short bricklaying courses or much more, please contact us today on 01322 280 202 for more information.
