Practical side of Home-Study Plumbing courses!
Here at Able Skills we are very busy at the moment helping students gain the skills and knowledge they need to seek new opportunities in the plumbing industry. Most of our plumbing courses are now fully booked until the end of the year, however, you can get started straight away with our Home-Study option - An alternative way to take on the City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing qualification. This option works by replacing the instructor with our 'Home-Study pack' for the theory side. Meaning you will learn the theory of plumbing; definitions, calculations, formulas, ideas and so on through studying at home. Once you feel confident in your new-found knowledge and that you have taken in everything provided in the pack you will contact us to book in 20-days worth of practical, hands-on training during which you will gain the physical skills and experience needed. How do I get involved?
To get started with this Home-Study Level 2 Plumbing course you can simply give us a call on 01322 280 202! Alternatively, you can come and visit our centre in person. In person we can discuss your options, explain more about how the course works, answer any questions that you have and even take you on a guided tour around the centre so that you can see for yourself the great work that we do here and a chance to gain a sense of what to expect from the practical side when you eventually begin training here. Due to being quite busy at the moment, it make take some time before we can fit you in for practical training however we do want you to spend time studying what we are providing in the 'Home-Study Pack' to ensure that you are prepared well and won't struggle in any way on the course.
After this course?
Alright, so you might be thinking about what you can go and do after completing this course. Well, upon successful completion of this course and therefore qualification, you can go on to work with a plumbing company straight away. However, if you want to work beyond a domestic setting and find work on let's say a construction site then you will need to achieve a National Vocational Qualification also known as an NVQ. If you are looking to achieve an NVQ in Plumbing, this is also available at Able Skills. We have plumbing assessors in place that can visit your place of work to carry out the assessment process to check your competency and standard of work out on the job. We also have additional courses like our Water Regulations Course which is perfect for those looking to work with a local water company.

We can also give you a guided tour around the centre so that you can see the facilities on offer for yourself and generally gain a sense of what to expect from training here. We are open 7-days a week between the hours of 8:30 - 16:30!
If you live a considerable distance from our training centre then you may have already thought of securing accomodation in the local area such as a hotel. we actually have our own accomodation available to our students. Our accomodation is located just a short walking distance from our centre and can be booked for the reasonable price of £20 per night! - The properties will provide you with your own fully furnished room with washing facilities and TV. There are several bathrooms/WCs as well as fully fitted kitchens and a dining areas to eat and/or meet your fellow students. - If you are interested make sure to contact us with plenty of time before the start of your course as spaces are limited!
