Here at Able Skills, we run such as a large variety of courses and trades, you may be looking to get a taste of multiple trades...This is possible with the Property Development Course! This is a great all-round DIY training package that will give you a foothold in 5 different trades. These trades being; Plumbing, plastering, decorating, tiling and electrics...Everything an individual would need when looking to develop a property or simply carry out some DIY projects.

 

 

These various training courses are a mixture of practical and theory-based lessons. You are involved at every stage, getting completely involved in every aspect of every course. A great way to learn the basics of each trade and to be able to leave with the confidence to undertake aspects of these subjects yourself. Let's take a look at all of the courses that are within this package: 

 

Tiling:

 

Tiling, so during this Property Development Course! Some of the courses will be our traditional Introductory courses and tiling is no different. You will undergo a very hands-on 5-day Tiling course that will give you an overall starting point, the fundamentals. This Introductory course will cover both wall and floor tiling, teaching you to tile using a range of different products, covering different patterns and tiling in different areas.

Decorating:

 

Similarly to tiling, you will take our traditional Introduction to Decorating course during this package. During this 5-day course, we will cover a variety of areas such as walls and ceilings, skirting boards and window frames. You will have guidance from our instructors Mark & Chris who will provide demonstrations to ensure your understanding of the task in hand. We hope that this course will give you some insight into how to properly carry out decorating jobs, provide you with some skills and improve your confidence when taking on decorating tasks. Upon completion of this 5-day section, you will receive a City & Guilds certificate for your hard work!

Plastering:

 

Plastering is a very useful skill to know, taught by our talented instructors Spencer & Joe we are sure that over this 5-day taste of plastering you will become familiar, confident and aware of how to correctly plaster. Upon completion of this course, you will also again receive a City & Guilds certificate! To provide and convey the information and practical skill in a methodical way the constructs have planned out this introduction to plastering into the 5-days:

 

Day 1

• Cut and fix plasterboard to ceilings and walls
• Skim ceiling using the six stages dry, wet, wet, dry

Day 2

• Complete any boarding left from day 1
• Cut and fix beads to pier, then square off reveals and rule off face with bonding plaster
• Prepare 2 walls to apply skimming

Day 3

• Prepare pier before skimming to a finish.
• Skim back studded wall and 2 remaining reveals

Day 4

• Run through render materials from screeds using dots, then apply scratch coat before filling out to screeds using feather edge to rule off creating a flush surface to the preformed screeds
• PVA ceilings and re skim

Day 5

• PVA and re skim walls.
• Rub render to a plain face finish complete all works.

Plumbing:

 

During this short 5-day introductory course we will go over the fundamental aspects of plumbing so that you have an overall idea of the trade, learning about; plumbing systems and fitting, soldering techniques, pike work (jointing, bending and pressure testing copper tube), dealing with valves, taps, cisterns and much more! Although short, the course will mostly involve hands-on practical learning, after all the best way to learn in to get stuck in! The course will cover all of the obvious issues that can arise within a domestic property in an attempt to teach you how to deal with certain things - Our team of plumbing instructors will be there to help you along the way - they have years of experience and knowledge gained from time spent teaching and working out on-site in the industry.

Introduction to Basic Domestic Electrics:

 

Our Introduction to Basic Domestic Electrics course is the ideal way to learn the knowledge and practical skills to undertake a domestic electrical installation safely. The course is 10-days and is a stepping stone from novice to beginner. When property developing it is obviously very useful to have some sort of understanding of how electrics work in a domestic setting, this course will definitely  give you that basic understanding, if you have any specific questions whilst on this course do not hesitate to ask your instructor, they all have years of experience in the trade both teaching and working out in the industry, they are a walking electrical encyclopedia so take advantage of their knowledge and advance your own understanding of the trade.

18th Edition:

 

You will also take on our 18th Edition course which is 3-days and classroom-based, the purpose is to gain an understanding of the latest wiring regulations, which are the industry standards for electrical work...This 3-day course will complement the domestic installer training and help you with registration on to a Competent Person Scheme for self-certification purposes if that is your choice.

Fundamental Inspection and Testing:

 

Last but not least, Inspection & Testing. This course will cover the inspection and testing processes required when undertaking domestic electrical work. So will in combination with the introductory course and the 18th edition give you an overall feel for electrics as a whole!
