Why Did You Want To Do This Course?
“To change direction and set up a family business with my son. After 25 years of working a finance job, I felt like I needed a change. Also, working in Finance is hard with constant regulation changes and I believe that working as a Plasterer could allow me to enjoy my job more and see me through to retirement.”

What Is Your End Goal With This Training?
“To have my own established family business and to be able to be my own boss, as well as enjoying the time I will get to work with my son.”
A lot of our students say that one of the main reasons for wanting to change career is due to wanting to spend more time with their family. Although Neil won’t be spending time with his loved ones at home, he will soon have the opportunity to work alongside his son which few people have the pleasure of doing. In addition to this, hopefully, a few years down the line he will be able to look back and reflect on how he has built his business from scratch.
What Advice Would You Give To Someone In A Similar Situation To You?
“Don’t think you’re too old! Just give it a go even if you want to just improve your DIY skills you may realise that you want to pursue this as a career.”
You are never too old to learn our students range from those in their early 20’s all the way up to those in their 60’s. With the current older generation of skilled tradespeople slowly working their way towards retirement there is a gap in the marketing for people like Neil to exploit. Sadly it is becoming common for younger people to be pushed away from trades because of the stereotypes that exist around them. So why not capitalise on this and learn a trade like Plastering today?
