Bricklaying courses

The UK construction market's latest figures are positive!

Here at Able Skills, we run a variety of construction training in all diffrent types of trades. Now could be the perfect time to get into the industry in the UK as contacts are on the rise! The latest statistics show an 11% increase in contracts awarded in the country compared with this time last year. Regional analysis shows that London was the leading region for contract awards in June with a 32.1% value share. Which is obviously quite predictable being the capital, but that doesn't mean it is the only place there is work the entire country seems to be developing at a steady rate.

Analysis by sector shows that the largest share of contract awards in July 2019 was held by the residential sector at 39.9%! Which again was predicted as the UK government tries to accomplish its goal of building 300,000 new homes by the end of the year...Commercial builds and retail came second in the statistics with 16% of contracts going to these sectors. Industrial builds were hovering around 13% - 14%.

So what's the problem?

There are still a few problems holding the industry back especially SME's (Small to Medium Enterprises). Firstly, the impending implications of Brexit that are still unclear to construction executives. Secondly, the skills gap is still an obstacle in terms of employing the right and qualified staff. The issue is there simply aren't enough trained construction workers compared to the number of developments obviously this is a relevant problem looking at the statistics that show that construction is only rising across the board.

Here at Able Skills, we can get you the knowledge and ability to bridge this skills gap! Currently, the skills margin is proving negative for the industry but in some respects positive for construction workers. What I mean by this is you will not be short of a job...companies are struggling to find qualified workers, so if you have the ability you'll most likely find employment quicker than expected. Also, wages have increased across the board, but especially in the trades that have the biggest gap, at the top of the list is Bricklaying!

61% of construction SMEs expect salaries and wages to increase in the next six months. It seems like the perfect time to start a career in bricklaying, the bricklaying courses we offer here at Able Skills are trusted, respected and efficient.
