What does the average Electrician make?

Well, the results are in! According to the 2020 trades salary survey, electricians, recorded by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) is £33,176, compared to £32,315 from 2019. Now in 2021 it's around £34,000 Is this realistic? 

Most established electricians tend to work for themselves and are self-employed which, yes means that this number will be dictated by how much work you do and how efficient you are in the industry. As a self-employed electrician or contractor, you will be able to charge a day rate or fixed rate depending on the job itself and the part of the country you are working in.

Over the period of 7-weeks, our City & Guilds Level 2 Electrical Course will help you to progress from the basics to more advanced aspects of the trade, additionally, the course will also provide an understanding of the Health & Safety requirements governing electrical installation processes, and knowledge of the organisation and structure of the electrical industry within which these activities are carried out, and overall learn what goes into carrying out the tasks of an electrician such as...

  • Setting up lighting systems with all their necessary components (e.g. switches, breakers, and sensors), as well as providing regular maintenance;
  • re-wiring homes;
  • installing, inspecting, and replacing or repairing;
  • arranging wire systems in order to complete the necessary circuitries;
  • performing tests on wires and electrical circuits to verify their conductivity and functionality; and
  • installing electric outlets in order to connect electrical appliances, taking standardized voltage levels in consideration.

We offer a Home Study Electrics Level 2 as well that is a great option for electrical training. This option allows you to start learning at a social distance. In fact from the comfort of your own home, you can begin learning the theory side of the trade.

You will receive the home-study pack after applying, study it, attend the centre for the practical side and complete assessments. During the time of studying at home, you will have access to the online learning platform 'Smartscreen' as well as the comprehensive study pack and will have contact information for an instructor if you have any questions or become stuck at any point.
