Not sure which trade route you want to go down? Multi-skills courses are a great way of building a more rounded knowledge of the construction industry as a whole while opening up the possibility of pursuing industry-recognised qualifications.

They’re also a fantastic way to develop DIY know-how that can prove priceless when it comes to things like property development and home improvement.

Whatever your end goal, multi-skills courses are a fantastic, versatile way of expanding your expertise.

Find out more about the range of topics you’re able to cover through a multi-skills course with Able Skills below.

Property Development Course

Covering the most common tasks that come with property development and refurbishment work, this course spans a series of entirely hands-on classes in Plumbing, Plastering, Painting & Decorating, Carpentry and Bricklaying.

The programme is ideal for anyone wanting to carry out home improvement work themselves and ultimately save money on employing tradespeople.

City & Guilds Handyman Course

Ideal for anyone wanting to develop their skills across a variety of trades, while simultaneously working towards a City & Guilds certificate.

The City & Guilds Handyman Course comprises multiple introductory hands-on lessons, covering: Painting & Decorating, Carpentry, Plumbing, Bricklaying and Plastering.

“Back in March of this year, I completed the last of my Handyman Foundation courses. I was made redundant from my last position as a Facilities Project Manager in October 2020. I decided to gain skills in building, with a plan to provide services within the domestic arena.

“I’m so pleased that I decided to undertake my courses, particularly with Able Skills. The knowledge and skills I obtained on the courses have led to me securing an abundance of work. I have been taken on as a subcontractor installing bathrooms and kitchens, something I would not have been able to achieve prior to completing the programme.”

Simon Bird, Handyman Course graduate.

City & Guilds Multi Craft Diploma

For those wanting to seek employment upon completion of their training, the City & Guilds Multi Craft Diploma allows you to cover three construction subjects of choice, and become a qualified City & Guilds Multi Skilled Tradesperson once completed.

To achieve the full Diploma, candidates must successfully complete all units from three of the following occupations:

  • Plumbing
  • Bricklaying

Multi-Skills Course
