What is WRAS?

What is WRAS? Do I need to take the course?

Here at Able Skills, we host a variety of diffrent courses, plumbing is a technical skill and requires professional training from experienced instructors. At our training facility, our Plumbing courses are taught by experienced, informed and professional tutors who have years of experience working out in the industry. One course that some students may not be aware of is the WRAS course or Water Regulations Course.

Plumbing courses Water Regulations Advisory Scheme.

This course is aimed at individuals who wish to carry out work with a local water company. Successful candidates are encouraged to join WIAPS, which will let them carry out work without having to be approved by their local water company. Upon completion of work, the Approved Plumber will issue a certificate for work completed to both the owner/occupier and the water company. Similar to something like the wiring regulations or 18th Edition in the electrician world. WRAS is a type of competency test that proves your ability and knowledge of the regulations surrounding water systems.

Water Regulations Advisory Scheme?

WRAS is short is basically the regulations that all water suppliers must comply with, for Plumbers it simply means that you have the ability to work with all systems run by the governed water suppliers. The purpose of WRAS is to contribute to the protection of public health by preventing contamination of public water supplies and encouraging the efficient use of water by promoting and facilitating compliance with the Water Supply!

After successful completion of our WRAS course, you will be able to apply to your local water company to be an approved contractor, allowing you to self-certify your plumbing work and installations/alterations. On successful completion of the course and assessment, you will be eligible to join the WIAPS Approved Plumbers Scheme providing you hold other relevant certificates.
