What's going on in Plastering? Here at our centre and in the industry...

Here at Able Skills, we teach all different trades to people, at any skills level and in a range of different skills. Plastering is a trade that will always be needed and our Plastering courses have a reputation for producing top-quality and efficient plasterers. Our two instructors Jo & Spencer have years of experience in the industry and know the trade completely...At no other training facility will you be able to gain knowledge from experts in the trade!

Here is a look at our training centre where students get their own area to learn and practice. It's important to us that students learn in a manner that reflects the work they will take on once completing the course, which is why we have set up these individual areas. Of course, our two instructors are always on stand by ready to answer any questions and provide some guidance. They also do many demonstrations throughout the day. Below is a video of our instructor spencer teaching some new students the basics, in this example it is about the mixing process...

What's going on in the industry?

Although Plastering is a trade that will always be needed there are always improvements, new methods and products. For example, research into a new technology by Safeguard Europe – the specialist in damp-proofing and waterproofing technology; suggests that better, more effective options are available.

The new technology comes about because of the problems with traditional Hi-lime plaster. The problem is that they aren't good at preventing moister, newer plastering systems have been introduced that are more resilient to dampness and salts than traditional plastering methods. These modern systems are capable of being applied to walls that are still damp and can resist high levels of moisture and salt ingress.
