Why is an NVQ important?

Why is an NVQ important?

An NVQ or National Vocational Qualification can be achieved in multiple trades - today we'll be looking at why achieving an NVQ can be beneficial and in some cases necessary. Here at Able Skills, our professional assessors can help you achieve this qualification, they are professional, friendly and very experienced with years of understanding built up from teaching and working out in the industry!

An NVQ is a work-based test, meaning that you will need to be in employment to process through - we cannot help you with this, you must find on-site employment by yourself! The process will require 2 separate site visits from one of our instructors so that they can asses your competence, efficiency and ability.

Come and work towards an NVQ with the guidance of Able Skills! (Pictured here is Wendy the first woman to achieve a construction NVQ with Able Skills.)

Importance of NVQ?

An NVQ will give you the tools to progress in your occupation by allowing you to show your understanding of your job role. By choosing the most suitable NVQ for your job role, you will be giving yourself an opportunity to become more qualified in your chosen field. The qualification itself hold weight in the industry and is recognised by professionals as a seal of approval for workers. By having a Construction NVQ; you are showing that you can work to the industry’s required standard, which can only benefit career progression.

Applying for a CSCS card?

Most CSCS cards require you to complete a certain level of Construction NVQ. Working in the construction industry, whether that is as a Bricklayer or Plumber, for example, you will need to hold a CSCS card! CSCS is the leading skills certification scheme within the UK construction industry. CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the required training and qualifications for the type of work they carry out. There are many different cards depending on the trade you work and your skill level.
