Plumbing Courses in London

Able Skills is a long standing and respected Plumbing course training provider, based in London (South East).

If you are considering changing career or gaining some plumbing skills then we are completely sure that there is a plumbing course here in London to suit you.

Able Skills can provide you with the opportunity to achieve a variety of plumbing courses at different levels so whether you are looking to achieve some DIY plumbing skills or looking to enter the industry as a fully qualified Plumber, Able Skills has the courses here for you.

We have dedicated plumbing centres for each of the various levels of plumbing courses that we teach here and instructors dedicated to your specific plumbing needs. We are easily accessible from every part of London and we are fortunate to be situated right on top of a main line train station with the added bonus of major road links in to the area.

The facilities that we have here are second to none and reflect reality in as many ways as possible so whatever level of plumbing you want to achieve, we can give you the necessary training.

If you are looking to achieve some basic plumbing skills to help you out around the home then potentially our short Introductory Plumbing Course will be the one for you and if you want to build on those skills further, our Advanced Plumbing Course may suit too.

Separately, if you are considering changing career or even if you already work as a Plumber but do not have any qualifications, we have City and Guilds accredited plumbing courses available at both levels 2 and 3.

All of the plumbing courses that are available here can be completed through the week, Monday to Friday or at the weekend as we are open 7 days every week.

If you want to attend a plumbing course and are just outside of London or around the other side of London from us and can’t face the traffic issues that this City has, we also have accommodation available on a room only basis at £20 per night.

Short Introductory and Advanced Plumbing Courses

These courses are ideal if you want to have enough knowledge to hand to deal with small issues that frequently arise in the home. Whether it’s dealing with a leaking tap or a toilet that won’t flush, these 5 day courses that we provide will definitely help you out and ultimately save you the bother (and money) involved in calling out a Plumber. Alternatively, the knowledge gained will help you understand the problem ahead of calling the Plumber which is very beneficial in helping you understand the work that he may feel you need doing.

So, if you want to be able to turn your hand to:

  • Soldering
  • jointing, bending and pressure testing copper tube
  • dealing with valves, taps, cisterns, cylinders
  • plastic tube installation
  • soil and waste pipes
  • installing radiators

then you won’t be disappointed by what is taught on this introductory course.

If you get the feel for plumbing and want to expand your knoweldge of plumbing systems but still want to keep your skill level to tackling minor home plumbing problems, our Advance Plumbing course would be the next phase of your learning.

The Advanced option will provide you with additional skills relating to:

  • Installing flow and return from the boiler
  • fitting a 900 x 450 indirect cylinder
  • fitting cold water storage cistern
  • fitting motorised valves & pump
  • installing flow and return to radiators
  • converting from open vented heating system to a sealed heating system

Both of these courses are an excellent in learning basic domestic plumbing and could very well save you a fair bit of time and money at some stage in the future.

City & Guilds Accredited Plumbing Course Qualifications

If you are looking to gain access to the Plumbing industry and work as a Plumber then you are going to need to have the right qualifications. Ultimately there is a variety to achieve and they are all progressive so the starting point would be C&G 6035 at level 2 – this is entry level for adults and the course delivery is a mixture of theory and practical covering:

  • Electrical principles and processes
  • Common plumbing processes
  • Cold water systems
  • Domestic hot water systems
  • Sanitation
  • Central heating systems
  • Drainage systems

The next step can be C&G 6035 at level 3 or if you have immediate access to plumbing work with just the level 2 then you may prefer to achieve NVQ level 2 first.

If you opt to remain in training and achieve the level 3 then you will cover

  • Environmental technology systems
  • Plumbing system installation planning
  • Complex cold water systems
  • Domestic hot water
  • Sanitation and drainage systems
  • Central heating systems

And in addition to make the course more interesting and to increase knowledge and employability, we build our Gas Managed Learning programme into the learning time. The gas training aspect will cover:

  • Legislation
  • Tightness testing
  • Pipework requirements
  • Gas safety controls
  • Flueing
  • Ventilation
  • Unsafe situations

If you did opt to do the level 2 and level 3 first, the next steps will be to be assessed for NVQs at level 2 first, followed by level 3.
