With furlough coming to an end why not consider a career as an Electrician!

The furlough scheme helped a lot of companies survive the lockdown period and was a great move by the Government here in the UK. However, the scheme has to come to an end, currently, with restrictions being eased an employer could pay someone to work two days a week, while the furlough scheme would cover the other three days not worked. But in October this scheme will officially come to an end causing many companies around the country to have to make more redundancies. This seems like the perfect time to gain trade skills that will last you a lifetime, taking job uncertainty out of the questions and even working on a self-employed basis as an electrician through our electrician courses...

Electrician courses

New career opportunities ahead with electrician training courses!

Where would I start?

Well, there is no better way to kick-start a new career than our City & Guilds Level 2 electrical course. This is 7-weeks of full-on training focusing on the fundamentals of the role. The course is a mix of both classroom-based theory and hands-on practical experience in our workshops. Our instructors will be there to guide you the whole journey through demonstrations, study sessions and one-on-one teaching. This course will effectively teach you the role of an electrician from scratch.

What's next?

After gaining the fundamentals through our City & Guilds Level 2 electrical course the next logical step is to take on the City & Guilds Level 3 qualification - This is an additional 7-weeks of training that will move on to more advanced aspects of the trade looking at achieving that next level of electrical knowledge and skills, providing an advanced understanding of electrical science, inspection & testing procedures, fault diagnosis and rectification and installation design. You will gain hands-on practical skills during these courses in our electrical bays that are equipped with all the tools, materials and equipment you could possibly need to learn and develop your electrical understanding the workshops aim to provide an environment that represents electrical tasks you will often come across working in the industry as seen below...

What other training will I need?

Now that you have a solid 14-weeks of intensive training behind you there are a few additional aspects of the trade you'll need to gain knowledge on...Firstly, you will want to understand the latest edition of the wiring regulations. These regulations outline the standards for electrical installations, maintenance and repair providing an industry standard for electricians to meet. It is important to have a standard or guideline to follow which is why the IET (Institute of Engineering and Technology) releases this benchmark and keeps the regulations updated as the industry develops and as technology, the way people interact with technology and over factors progress.

Our 18th Edition course is 3-days in total and will help you to gain familiarity with the regulations, the meaning behind them and how to implement these guidelines into everyday tasks once you are working out in the industry. This is very much a theory course and will be taught within a classroom setting. Although the course is only 3-days our instructors are experts on the regulations and will work with the group at a steady pace, preparing you for the examination ensuring that you are fully prepared for the City & Guilds 18th Edition test which is a 2-hour multiple-choice, on-line examination.
