If you are thinking about a change of career but you are unable to commit to any of the structured electrical courses that we advertise, this blended home and in-centre learning may be the answer for you. If you opt for this package of learning, you will be able to work at your own pace, learning from comprehensive study packs with access to online resources to help you through the various units detailed within the qualification.
What You’ll Learn at Home
The Theory Part
Our home study electrical package is your first step towards becoming an Electrician. It is suitable for new entrants but equally suited to more experienced Installers who may not hold recognised qualifications but now realise that the industry demands them.
The C&G 2365 level 2 is the appropriate qualification for anyone looking to access the electrical industry and is recognised by the industry as the correct route for potential electricians to undertake. The C&G 2365 level 3 is the natural next step and a requirement should you want to move towards NVQ at level 3.
The information within the C&G 2365 Electrical qualifications has been designed to help candidates understand the industry and how they can apply their new found knowledge within the electrical sector.
The home study electrical aspect of this way of learning will cover information relating to:
Level 2 C&G 2365 Electrical Course

What You’ll Learn ‘in-centre’ at Able Skills
The Practical Part
Over the period of time that you come into the centre, you will undertake a variety of theory examinations based on the learning completed at home; these will be a mixture of on-line and written exams. At level 3 you will also have assignment work to complete – these can be done at home or in centre.
The main reason for your attendance at the centre is to provide you with practical training and assessment to ensure that you have the skills to undertake the various aspects relating to electrical installation work.
To ensure that you have a thorough understanding of the practical work undertaken within the electrical industry, we have put together our own comprehensive training programme. We have devised the practical training around the essential requirements of the qualifications but we have built in additional relevant tasks to provide our students with the right skills to understand the industry and to work competently and safely.
How You’ll Learn
To start the process, we will send you a level 2 Home Study electrician pack which will hold all of the theory knowledge that you will require in order to achieve the related aspects of this qualification. This study pack has been written by our own instructors and is based around the knowledge requirements of the C&G 2365 handbook. We have sourced information from a variety of places to reiterate key pieces of information and to make the learning as accessible as possible. Included within the pack is the opportunity for self-assessment so candidates can check their knowledge and progress along the way. We would expect you to spend at least 3 to 6 months studying the theory aspect of this award before you make arrangements to attend Able Skills to undertake exams and to start the practical training. Once you are ready to attend the centre, we will arrange for you to undertake exams as appropriate and we will get your practical activities under way.
The attendance for the level 2 is 4 weeks (20 days) and once level 2 is complete, we begin the process again with the level 3 self-study pack, this will require 3 weeks attendance (15 days).
Courses Open To You After
From these electrical home study courses you can move on to 18th Edition, PAT Testing and Inspection & Testing qualifications. Once you are working in the industry and feel ready, NVQ level 3 will be your next step. We also have a dedicated AM2 Centre and as AM2 is a mandatory unit within the NVQ, it means that every aspect of all electrical installation qualifications can be achieved at Able Skills.
By undertaking this ‘Home Study’ option, you are effectively replacing your access to an instructor in a classroom environment with a home learning theory pack. As this is the case, we have put together very comprehensive home study electrician packs to ‘replace the tutor’ but we will also provide email contact with one or more of our electrical assessors in case you have any questions not covered in the pack. You will also be given access to online resources to help you study.
When in the centre, you can be assured that we have access to the very best tools and equipment. We have excellent working relationships with CK, Yesss Electrical and Megger and there are opportunities for those who want to purchase tools and test equipment at discounted prices or those that would like to open a trade account.
Duration & Cost
To complete this qualification, your attendance at Able Skills will be required for four weeks for level 2 and 3 weeks for level 3. This is all obviously completely dependent on you using the home study learning packs in the right way.
The total cost for this combined level 2 and level 3 Home Study option is £4250.00 – all fees are inclusive of vat.
You will pay £500 to have the level 2 pack sent out to you and then £500 for each of the 4 allocated weeks that you attend. A further £500 is payable to release the level 3 pack and £416.66 for each of the 3 allocated weeks that you attend.
