What does the Able Skills bathroom fitting course cover?
Our three-week package combines one week each of plumbing, tiling and plastering. We designed it to give you the practical foundation to prepare and finish a bathroom rather than learning only one part of the installation.
Does the bathroom fitting course include plumbing training?
Yes. In our plumbing week, we cover systems and fittings, soldering, bending and jointing copper tube, pressure testing, valves, taps, cisterns and pipework. We deliver the plumbing element Monday to Friday.
Will I learn wall and floor tiling on the bathroom fitting course?
Yes. In our tiling week, we cover setting out, adhesives, tools, tile cutting, borders and patterns, difficult areas, socketed areas and splashbacks, with practical work on wall and floor tiling.
Does bathroom fitting training include plastering?
Yes. We teach surface preparation, mixing materials, bonding and finishing plaster, beads, skimming walls and ceilings, and applying PVA. We exclude some plasterboard and joint-taping content when you choose the weekend option.
Is the bathroom fitting course suitable for adults with no trade experience?
Yes. We have no entry requirements and deliver the course through practical workshop training. We designed it for DIY renovators, property improvers and adults exploring bathroom installation as a service.
Does the bathroom fitting course cover heating or gas work?
No. We cover introductory bathroom plumbing, tiling and plastering, not gas engineering or a full heating qualification. You will need the appropriate competence and, where applicable, separate qualifications or registration for gas work and regulated plumbing tasks.
What certificate do I receive from the bathroom fitting course?
When you successfully complete the course, we award assured City & Guilds certificates covering tiling, plastering and plumbing. These certificates confirm the training you have completed, but they are not occupational NVQs.
How does the bathroom fitting course compare with separate plastering and tiling courses?
Our bathroom package gives you three coordinated introductory weeks focused on completing bathroom work. If you want deeper specialisation or a qualification pathway in one trade, we recommend one of our longer plastering or tiling programmes.
What is the difference between the bathroom fitting course and the Handy-Man course?
Our bathroom fitting course concentrates on plumbing, tiling and plastering over three weeks. Our six-week Handy-Man course is broader: we combine six introductory trade subjects and award an assured City & Guilds certificate for each subject.
Can the bathroom fitting or Handy-Man course lead to further trade training?
Yes. Both options can help you identify the area you want to specialise in. We offer longer qualification routes in plumbing, tiling and plastering if you want to build beyond introductory multi-trade skills.
Multiskills Courses at Able Skills
Courses open to you after
If you decide that you would like to specialise and achieve qualifications in a particular area, you could consider upgrading to any of the longer course qualifications that we have available. You may want to expand your tiling skills to cover other aspects such as the use of natural stone products, you may want to build on your plastering to ensure that you have the skills to tackle larger areas or you may want to understand aspects of plumbing which require you to hold a level 2 qualification. Whatever you decide, Able Skills can provide you with a training option to suit.
