Able Skills can proudly announce that we are now able to deliver construction training through the Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS).

ELCAS promotes lifelong learning amongst members of the Armed Forces. The scheme provides credits over a maximum of three financial years for individuals to undertake a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3 or above with an approved learning provider.

To be recognised as an ELCAS approved training provider, Able Skills has been assessed and passed quality assurance with the organisation. This included the submission of an evaluation form and on-site auditing from a Ministry of Defence representative.

Who is eligible for ELCAS?

Members of the scheme must have completed at least six years of eligible service to qualify for the lower tier of funding (up to £1,000 per claim instalment) and eight years of service for the higher tier (up to £2,000 per claim instalment).

For those who completed four years of qualifying service prior to 1st April 2017, different rules are in place. If this is the case, ELCAS advises reading the JSP 822 document.

Individuals can make three claims in total and only one per financial year. Claims can be made for up to 10 years from the final day of service for those who left the Forces before 1st April 2016, and for up to five years for those who left after.
