Todays topic is boiler breakdowns. Boiler breakdowns are one of the biggest household problems in the UK. The question is what can we do to make sure this problem doesn’t arise in the first place. Many of us seek a quick fix to get our homes up and running again but just who are we letting through the door? Have they undertaken the necessary gas courses to become qualified to fix your boiler and are they Gas Safe registered?

Lets take a quick look at what the most common problems seem to be:

  • No heat or hot water
  • Leaking and dripping
  • Strange banging, whistling or gurgling noises
  • Thermostat issues
  • Radiators not getting hot

Throughout the year we always find more people with boiler problems, whether it be our own or through someone we know. ‘Boiler Guide’ reported these as some of the most common problems we face with our boilers. But what really contributes to keeping our boilers working throughout the year? Many of us let local tradesmen into our homes but are we guilty of overlooking the quality of the qualifications they say they have?

Don’t just take their word for it!

We have to ask ourselves which gas courses this person has undertaken and which qualifications they hold. It may be worth asking if they have even completed one of our gas courses at our learning facility in Dartford. Far too many of us forget the importance of Gas Safe Registered companies and how they can really save you a fortune in the long run.

Quick checks

  • Don’t forget to ask for their Gas Safe Registration number
  • Should they not have their Gas Safe ID Card, check them out on:
