construction industry building house buildingConstruction work is going on across the UK and in higher levels that ever before, with the housing crisis playing a big part. New hous building projects are being planned and started up and down the UK and largely in the South East corner of the country.

However, this building work is being affected by the ongoing skills shortage which has been affecting the construction industry for the past few years. Workers from all trades are needed across construction sites across the South East and even more so in Kent. Skilled workers in trades such as plastering, carpentry, bricklaying and much more are needed to help with the huge influx of work.

Able Skills have seen house building go up hugely here in Dartford and surrounding areas in Kent. Many of our students are getting the skills and qualifications to get work on these local sites as they have seen the availability.

With the work continuing to increase over the next five or more years, we see this as a huge opportunity for people looking for work and a new career. Workers are in high demand and work is available, so it is the perfect time to get involved in the construction industry.

Working on these building sites will require that you have the right qualifications and skills to do so. Our training courses are perfectly suited to making sure you are industry ready with skills and the qualifications to match. Nowadays you will not be allowed on-site without a CSCS Skilled workers card in your chosen trade. Whether you want to become, a Bricklayer, Carpenter, Electrician or a Plumber, you will need to have a CSCS Skilled workers card matching your trade to gain access to work on-site.

The secret to achieving a CSCS Card is gaining an NVQ qualification in your chosen trade. We offer NVQ courses in all our trades and this will allow you to gain a CSCS Skilled workers card. Part of achieving the NVQ requires site assessments. Once you’ve completed the course you will then be assessed on-site to finalise your NVQ. Site assessments are carried out in all trades by our dedicated NVQ assessors.

So, if you are based in the South East and you want a career in construction, then Able Skills is the place to be to get started in the trade.
