Able Skills going Worldwide, with more and more students coming across the pond to train with us. Recent years has seen students come from Canada, France, Gibraltar, Australia and even Chile. We are attracting students from all over the world as they look to gain industry recognised qualifications to take home with them and start a new career. Most recently we’ve had a student join our courses that has links to both Canada and Australia.
Alex is a Canadian living in the dreams of Australia and is now at Able Skills in Dartford on one of our many tiling courses. Alex has just about travelled as far as you can to train at Able Skills and we can assure him it will be well worth the journey. As Alex began this week, we caught up with him to see how he is settling in and finding his course so far.
Which course are you currently on?
I’m began the NVQ Level 2 Tiling Course this week.
What are your reasons for training?
I’ve previously done a bit of outdoor paving and tiling as a landscaper back in Australia and I am now looking to advance my skills to get more work. There is currently lots of tiling work in Australia and Able Skills seemed the best place to come and train.
What made you choose Able Skills?
The course and qualification on offer were a big reason for me training at Able Skills. My partner has a British passport and we decided to take a trip to the UK and she is currently working while I take my course. Able Skills seemed well set up and offers the best qualifications.
Future Goals when in Australia?
My plan is to get more skills that will allow me to offer more work back in Australia. Also, these skills will allow me to do bigger jobs such as bathrooms, kitchens rather than being limited to just outdoor landscaping. As we are in the UK for six months, I’m considering doing the bricklaying course as well at Able Skills.
Would you recommend Able Skills?
100%, my first few days have been great. Terry really knows his stuff. I did worry that I might repeat stuff I already know, however, in just three days I’ve already learnt so much from Terry. I’m looking forward to the rest of my course.
