He also highlighted how a sustainable wooden bed can be a very important purchase for homeowners and could last them a long time if they invest in the right one.

Workers may need to take carpentry courses if they are asked to carry out a job involving such materials, which could happen more often if wood becomes en vogue in the interior design world.

Mr Evans added: "When buying wooden beds, I always advise people to look for the distinctive Forest Stewardship Council mark, which means that the wood used has come from well-managed forests."
